American Idol Finalist Sanjaya Malakar

Awwww... he's so cute? Can I keep him? Arguably the least talented of the final twelve for season six, his 'Tiger Beat' schoolgirl charms and the backing of Idol ant-site "Vote for the Worst" will probably keep him on for several more weeks.

It's a shame his singing has taken such a turn for the worse, considering he was one of my early favorites. His boyish charms and that adorable 70's hair, coupled with a knack for Stevie Wonder tunes made me wonder if he could be the next teen idol.

Unfortunately since leaving Hollywood week he's made one bad decision after another - song choice has been particularly rough for this Idol contestant, although he's at least found a hairstyle that the judges can live with as of week one of the final twelve. Based on the (in)famous support he's receiving, expect to see Sanjaya Malakar around long after more talented singers have gone.

Don't forget to also check the hub page for his sister, Shyamali Malakar, who's beginning to get quite a bit of buzz on the web now that her Hooters picture has come out. Apparently she's developing quite a following!

Also I've added his most recent video for "Girl, You Really Got Me Going" - you have to admit, love him or hate him, Sanjaya is hitting his stride and making those young girls cry! Thanks for taking my advice by the way ;)

After his elimination in country week, Sanjaya still appears as popular as ever. I'm adding a blurb and link to one of his latest interviews, which I find fascinating: his motivation for participating in American Idol is refreshingly honest, and I think he will go on to be a success, wherever he goes. Sanjaya, you will always be my Papaya!!!

A day after he was eliminated, Malakar exuded much of the same politeness, enthusiasm and optimism which, in addition to his heckled singing skills, that made him this season’s most fascinating personality.

Asked about the impact of www.votefortheworst.com and internet commentator Howard Stern — both threw their support behind Malakar in hopes of mocking Idol — the 17-year-old from Federal Way, Wash, dismissed the controversy.
