I think Melinda Dolittle is a joy to listen to and to watch! I just love her. It would be a shame if she is voted off. I do not know how to text a vote in, so I hope this comment help in some way.
I watch American Idol just to hear Melinda Doolittle sing. She gives me goosebumps. If she doesn't win I will be very dissappointed. Melinda brings happy tears to my eyes with every note.

I have to say, I haven't heard a voice like that since Aretha or Gladys! I'd never seen American Idol before, but when I was staying with some family, they were watching an episode. I wasn't watching the screen, and I heard you singing "I'm a Woman", and I when I looked up, I thought, good grief, what a voice! I kept expecting an encore, "Chain of Fools" or "Midnight Train to Georgia", or something. But hey, there is no question in my mind that you deserve to win. It's one thing to just have a good voice, but you've got to have something extra, some "Yo", I think that one judge called it, some soul I call it, and you've got it! You just keep singing, girl, you're awesome! You deserve to be the winner...and if you don't get it, then they'll have to change the name of the show from "American Idol" to "American Idiots"! Keep doing your best, and don't lose that soul, Melinda!

There isn't a word that expresses how incredible Melinda's voice is and how is just reaches into your soul and lights it up. I only pray that you can survive the stupid Sanjaya/Howard Stern crap that's going on with the voting. Regardless, now that America has heard her, I feel Melinda will join the ranks of Barbra Streisand, Celine, etc. despite it all. I'll be first in line to buy her first CD!
I have never watched American Idol until this season after listening to Melinda Doolitle's audition. The ONLY reason I continue to watch the show each week is just to hear her sing. Yep, guess you can call me one of her fan(atic)s.
Melinda is exactly what the music industry needs right now. An individual that can revise, reprise and rebound the MOTOWN sound. She has the ability to stylize a classic song without compromising the integrity of the original lyric or melody. While it would, no doubt, be beautiful to experiance an original song of her own device. To have a youngster of her caliber remake the MOTOWN greats would be a fulfilling accomplishment and audio treat for millions. Bring it on babygirl.
I've never entered a fansite, and I have been watching A.I. since the second season began. I was thinking that the show might not be so appealing anymore, after all these years, but I KNEW when I saw your audition in Memphis that it would be worth my time! I can honestly say that I tear up and weep with joy when I hear you sing (and I am a vocalist myself). There is something unique and different about you. I don't know your spiritual background, but I think God has truly gifted you with your beautfiul sound and spirit. I don't know what all He has in store for you, but the influence you have is HUGE. melinda doolittle is fenominal. This show is not in her league. If she doesn't win , then people don't know what a good singer is. I know music and she is it. also lakisha and jahdon are very good. Im only watching American Idol just to hear Melinda sing. I love her voice so much. Im a big fan of Ella Fritzgerald and I cant believe that there is someone exists who can sing like her. She has great talent. The true soulfoul singer is Melinda not Lakisha. Coz each time Melinda sings, i can feel it inside my veins. She always giving me goosebumps. Anyone who has a bad comment for Melinda, doesn't know about music. What a shame. you are watching american idol as if you understand the soul of music.

I'm not sure how old you are...(judging by your spelling) maybe 11 or 12? However, I must tell you that this is not an american beauty pageant, but an american Idol competition....a singing competition!! It does however takes a few years to truly understand good quality music/talent when you hear it, and there is no other better singer than Melinda. Melinda is very beautiful in every way, she definitely has modesty, very classy and very genuine......we all can feel that!!!!!!

I agree with you Cathy. Melinda should have won. She does have the best voice and presentation with every song she sings. She lives and feels the words of the songs when she sings. Not many singers can do that. I think the reason Blake got to the finals is because he has alot of young girls who thinks he is a heart throb. Thats where his votes came from. Of the two finalists, Jordon should win; however, Melinda will always get my vote. Melinda, you still make us all proud. You'll do what is in your heart and go on to do many great things. Put out those CD's cause I will buy them all. GOD BLESS YOU MELINDA.
Last nights results that took you out of the competition was "horrible". We were depressed and felt how could they take the "best singer" in this years competition out. You were great on all three songs that you sang and we could not believe the results. We don't want to watch American Idol because of the disappointment...just gave us a depressing feeling. I believe someone wrote a comment earlier that the show should be called "American Idiots". Good luck to you and we know you were the best and should have won the title this year.
Melinda stands head and shoulders above all the others as a singer, and performer. If American Idol was really a singing competition, she would have already won. Melinda should go on to a successful career. I know I’ll buy her first album and I’m not even a pop music fan.
After Sanjaya got as far as he did, nobody should think that American Idol is not ultimately, a popularity contest. We saw it last year too, when a far better singer came in second. This year Melinda was voted off because she wasn't 17 and cute and/or a guy and cute. I don't want to take anything away from Jordin and Blake. They are both very, very good. Blake is a wonderfully talented, inventive musician and a good singer. Jordin has a fabulous voice and ultimately may become the best singer, but not now. She is, after all, only 17. If she continues to develop her voice she will be great. If she works her voice too hard she may destroy it, like so many other exploited young singers have done. I sincerely hope that does not happen.

America just let the "idol" go. Melinda is the best of the three. No offence to the other two but they are not as good. I dont see any of the two finalist making it big on the international scene. They will be locally known and just by young people.

Malinda Dolittle is my favorite of this year's contestants. There are a combination on things. Obviously, she's a terrific singer, with a powerful and beautiful voice. The judges always compliment her on her connection with the lyrics. And, although she is not conventionally beautiful, there is something compelling about not only listening to her, but also watching her. And, at the end of her songs, her smile seems to say if even in a slightly shy way, "I loved singing that song!" Thank you, Robin, for making this Hub.
