America's Best Dance Crew-Season 4-Episode 4 Review
70
America's Best Dance Crew, Season 4, Episode 4 is down to 6 teams and this week's challenge was the Bollywood Challenge. The Bollywood dance style from India is an ever-growing style of dance, thanks in part to the popularity of the movie "Slumdog Millionaire".
The six teams in this week's competition were:
- Afroborike
- We Are Heroes
- Massive Monkees
- Rhythm City
- Beat Ya Feet Kings
- Vogue Evolution
The challenge was to incorporate a specific traditional Bollywood style of dance into their routine and give it their own flair.
Maria Lopez announced that the first team to be guaranteed a spot in next week's challenge was Massive Monkees. They were the first crew to perform.
Massive Monkees-Bhangra
Massive Monkees had to incorporate Bhangra into their dance moves. Bhangra consisted of lots of different movements involving their wrists, fingers, feet, and shoulder shakes. They then wove B-boy moves into the Bhangra moves to demonstrate their own variant of the Bollywood dance style.
I was impressed with their performance. I think they aced the challenge and gave the audience a high energy performance. The judges seemed to like it as well. They really needed this good performance to keep them in the running.

Vogue Evolution-Rajasthani
Vogue Evolution's challenge was to incorporate Rajasthani moves into their routine. They chose to incorporate the use of scarves in their Rajasthani moves. Scarves, like any prop, pose an additional challenge.
During the behind the scenes segment from last week and this week's rehearsal, it was revealed that Leiomy has been temperamental, skipping practices and walking off stage during dress rehearsal.
I believe this was their best performance to date. They aced the challenge and still showed us their vogue style. I think they hid their problems well during their performance.
Lil Mama chastised Leiomy's behavior and advised her to remember that she's a man and even though she's becoming a woman, she should remember to act like a lady. I was disappointed to see Leiomy rolling her eyes to Lil Mama's comments. I think Vogue Evolution needs to remember that if they want to be America's Best Dance Crew they need to remain professional. As JC said, everyone has a bad day from time to time, but if they expect to go out on tour, they're going to have to learn to work together better. Chill, Leiomy, honey.
On the MTV forum, it's been said the the reason for Leiomy's diva attitude was that she has just learned for the death of a good friend and mentor and was not allowed to attend the funeral due to production requirements. I have no way of knowing if this is true.

Rhythm City-Bharata Natyum
Rhythm City's challenge was to incorporate the Bollywood dance style called Bharata Natyum into their routine this week. This dance utilizes stomping, and sharp hand movements called the deer and the lotus.
I agree with Lil Mama that Rhythm City did a great job combining their own style of dance with the Bollywood Bharata Natyum style. It was a nice touch for them to remove their shoes for part of the routine and I loved the ending.
Rhythm City's Week 4 Bollywood Performance
Afroborike-Kathak
Afroborike's challenge was to incorporate the Bollywood dance style called Kathak into their routine. This style of dance requires fast footwork with bells around their ankles. It's similar to tap-dancing.
I have mixed feelings about their performance. I think they handled the footwork with the bells ok, but I think they went overboard with the lifts and spins. I didn't care for the suspenders on the guys. The girls, as usual, seemed to want to show too much skin. This was certainly not part of the Bollywood challenge.
Afroborike's Week 4 Bollywood Performance
We Are Heroes-Giddha
We Are Heroes' challenge was to incorporate Bollywood dance style Giddha into their routine this week. This dance style incorporates clapping and fast footwork.
I liked their routine and I think they did a great job. However, I wasn't impressed with the slot machine set-up. It reminded me too much of the gong last week. I think it's just too cheesy. Their costumes were ok, but I think the black bras were uncalled for as well. It just didn't work well with the challenge. JC seemed to appreciate their sexiness this week.
We Are Heroes' Week 4 Bollywood Performance
Beat Ya Feet Kings-Garba
Beat Ya Feet Kings' challenge was to incorporate the Bollywood dance style called Garba. Garba utilized knee spins and fluid movements they aren't used to including.
Personally, I don't think they included enough of the challenge into their routine. Their caps have always bugged me and for them to put them in their teeth this time as part of their routine was excruciating to watch.
I think Beat Ya Feet Kings are incredibly talented in their footwork, they just aren't overall great performers when challenged to incorporate other styles.
Beat Ya Feet Kings' Week 4 Bollywood Performance
The Final Showdown
After the performances of We Are Heroes and Beat Ya Feet Kings, the judges were faced with eliminating one of the teams.
Beat Ya Feet Kings were sent home and left the stage as their banner fell.

I agree, Philipo! Wish I could dance like them!
very nice!
First of all we all indians give thanks to Mr Danny Boyle who introduce Bollywood to Hollywood and yes thanks to America who accept Bollywood(it is still unknown whether Americans accept it or asusual looking for a change)
its not bollywood dancing it is just a mingle of indian and western dance where they just took the signature step of all the dancing types in india, it was funny when one of the group got the Bharatnatyam style and that black guy said WHAT? I mean in India girls are learning Bharatnatyam (which not only include hand and foot movement but face expression too) from the age of five six and after ten to fifteen years of training they become proficient in that dancing than how come you expect them to learn in a week or so but any way good attempt but not remarkable
Thanks filthyscoundral!
Thank you for that clarification kunika! I have to admit, I know so little about it. Pretty much everything I know about it, I learned from watching that episode. :)
For a minute i thought u call me scoundral but any way good way of writing and very strong attempt good good
