America's Fall From Grace

200 years of grace

The united States Of America, in the journals of history, is a very young nation. Just over 200 years old. Never before in historical times has a nation claimed independence and rose up to be a superpower in so few years. How can this happen? Simple, Gods grace. Our founding fathers knew in order to be a great nation, we would have to be a "nation under God". And God did in fact bless this nation.

President John Adams, one of only two signers of the Bill of Rights and the First Amendment, said “As the safety and prosperity of nations ultimately and essentially depend on the protection and the blessing of Almighty God, and the national acknowledgement of this truth is not only an indispensable duty which the people owe to Him”.

President Andrew Jackson declared the Bible “is the rock on which our Republic rests”.

President Abraham Lincoln declared the Bible “is the best gift God has given to men….But for it we could not know right from wrong.”

President William McKinley declared “Our faith teaches us that there is no safer reliance than upon the God of our fathers, Who has so singularly favored the American people in every national trial and Who will not forsake us so long as we obey His commandments and walk humbly in His footsteps.”

One of the carvings inside the Jefferson Memorial declares these words of Jefferson, “God who gave us life, gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are gifts of God? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just, that His justice cannot sleep forever.” The Lincoln Memorial includes the words “we here highly resolve…this nation under God…shall not perish from the earth.”

The Fall From Grace Begins... Our country began a philosophical social shift in 1947 with the infamous U.S. Supreme Court ruling about "the separation of church and state." Since then the nation has been experiencing a frightening trend in social breakdown. We are engulfed in a tidal wave of immorality and violence. Surely, evil has been with us since the Garden of Eden. But evil's statistics in the United States were relatively minute until we removed God, the Bible and prayer from the schools. The year 1962 was when the statistics began a sharp trend upward.

God was violently expelled from school by a Supreme Court decision in 1962 (Engle vs. Vitale). He was banished from the schoolyard and His Commandments removed from the school wall in two other Supreme Court decisions (Abbington vs. Schemp, 1963 and Stone vs. Graham 1977). He has been replaced with police guards, metal detectors, drugs, condoms, gangs, assault, rape, murder and violence of unprecedented order.

The trend continues

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (AP) — An atheist who has spent four years trying to ban the Pledge of Allegiance from being recited in public schools is now challenging the motto printed on U.S. currency because it refers to God.

Michael Newdow seeks to remove "In God We Trust" from U.S. coins and dollar bills, claiming in a federal lawsuit that the motto is an unconstitutional endorsement of religion. Newdow, a Sacramento doctor and lawyer, used a similar argument when he challenged the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools because it contains the words "under God." He took his pledge fight to the U.S. Supreme Court, which in 2004 said he lacked standing to bring the case because he did not have custody of the daughter he sued on behalf of.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — A fire station memorial to the Sept. 11 terror attack victims that included the phrase "God Bless America" was ordered altered by a city official who said it improperly mixed government and religion. The memorial erected by firefighters at Murfreesboro Fire Station No. 6 now consists of a model of the twin towers of the World Trade Center and the edited phrase "Bless America."

EL PASO, Texas — A West Texas high school's marquee with the words "God Bless America" on it was removed after a senior suggested that it could be offensive to some. The sign at Eastwood High School now reads, "United We Stand."

These are just a few examples. The sad part is, this nation has been spiraling down hill since the 1960's. The moral values of this nation have been in decline at a record setting pace. The moral decline had gone unchecked until President Reagan began the healing process. Through his faith and Christian beliefs, he began to bring this nation back. The problem was, he only had eight years to reverse decades of pestilence. He simply did not have enough time. Since then each of the following presidents of the United States has systematically destroyed any hope of healing or bringing this nation out of it's decline. We are no longer a nation that fears God. We have become a nation of self. For myself and by myself! God has nothing to do with it. We will have what we want and will find ways to justify it. If Gods word says it's wrong, then we will ignore Him and do it anyhow.

Ronald Reagan

William Clinton

George Bush

Barack Obama

Our government, Our biggest adversary

For the people by the people, this has not been the case for decades! Each of our elected officials run on the premise of doing something for the people. They make promise after promise. Once elected, they pursue their own agenda's and totally ignore those who put them in office. Now because of their greed, you and I, the tax payers, have been handed a 10 Trillion dollar deficit. That's enough money to give every man, woman and child in the United State a million dollars and still have money left over. Where did we go wrong? We elected them! We allowed this to happen! This brings me to my next point.

Even though we have no say in what they do in office, we will pay the price. Once again our morals come into play. Let me give you an example. During this years Presidential election, we voted for change. We did not care how it came, just as long as we got change. Obama was elected by a landslide. However, the nation was not voting on moral grounds or on a persons moral background. This was clearly evident during the debates. On every moral issue, Obama made it clear he was not going to take a christian stance. Instead he did the exact opposite. Once elected, the first two things he did as President was to reverse the bans on abortion and embryonic stem cell research. These two thing alone are enough to put this nation at odds with God. As time goes on you will see more issues that will cause us to lose our blessings. Such as Obama passing into law the same sex medical insurance for the federal government. These things may seem minor, but to God, they are major. Now most of us at this point would say, we didn't know Obama would do these things. We are not to blame for his faults or his wrong doings. That's where you are dead wrong!! In Gods eyes, we are totally at blame. When we elect a person to represent us, be it President, Senator or Congressman, we are stating that this is who we are. He is our voice for the people. Because we voted this person into office, we are responsible for his or her actions and must accept the consequences good or bad. This nation can very well live or die by the hand of those we choose to elect.

The icing on the cake

The defining moment in our nations history is yet to come. In the next few months we will determine the fate of our nation. God still has the last word. We will either be blessed or cursed. The bible says, "God will bless those who bless Israel" and "God will curse those who curse Israel." We have always supported Israel, and thus far we have received blessings, but a critical decision is coming. If we force Israel to give land to Palestine in order to make a Palestinian state, we will in fact, come directly under Gods wrath. Israel is His and no-one has the authority to divide it. If we cause them to divide their land, God will divide our land. Don't be surprised if you see a major earthquake on American soil that may quite literally split the nation in two! If this does happen, our nation will crumble as a superpower and all blessings from God will cease!

Interesting video about god in schools.Secular schools were never intended to be places our worship, unless you include religious based schools.Which in my opinion is quite all right,as long as the parents are allowed to take the taxes they would have paid to send their children to a public secular school ,and use it to pay for the religious one.Seperate schools to me is a practical solution to the seperation of church and state. All religions have their own set of beliefs ,so I see no legal reason why they shouldn't have the right to their own viewpoint as to how their children are raised in their own home's and their own private schools as long everyone agrees that religious tolerance is required in the public square My personal view is that believing in a Supreme being or Diety is not a religion and never was a religion.Religon is defined as a devotion to a religious faith,an organized faith,in a set of beliefs and practices. These vary, and it is not practical to accomadate every belief system in a public school, besides confusing the children, since their religios views differ. Nor is it constitutional as yet to do so. I believe in a God and I used to go to church,as it was mandated by my parents since I was born into it,if not indoctrinated by the church afterward. Now that I'm grown I have decided that religions and churches were created by man ,not God ,and can be used in negative as well as positive ways History teaches us that religious intolerance is just as bad as political intolerance.Sometimes they get together to terrorize those who do not or would not follow their respective dogma's.No great men in our history who inspired religions made any statement requiring everyone to join a religion or political group for that matter. Some countries require their citizens to do both and sometimes religion and government are one and the same.America is not perfect by any means,This great experiment in human relations, where people from all races, beliefs, and religious worship came to live in a more perfect union it seems requires great change and pain as well.Weather it is of our own making or not, which I'm inclined to believe it is. Some outside influences however had a hand in shaping our countrries Government.Ultimately it is we who must deal with our problems..I belive in diversity, not dictatorship. In tolerance ,not toltarianism,in respect ,not disrespect.Everyone has their own belief system, maybe one day that will change. But if,we change as a result of violence, for the worse what good can come of that.

You are right on with the hub and the next few months for this nation. Yes if we stand and support Israel. But we know that God sometimes uses people for his own purpose. That are in Power and that could be this Government we have in Power now. To hear our President speak more about our Muslim Nation and make a Statement that we are not a Christian Nation we are already in trouble as a Nation. God is in control and whatever his will is I understand either way it goes. I have a video of someone in congress speaking out about the way our new President has went away from all our founding Fathers of this country. Good Hub Amen

Thank you someonewhoknows, I appreciate your input and do agree on many of your points. I too think of religion as man made. The church to me is the body of Christ, not any specific "religion". I do not feel it is necessary for any schools to teach any one religion or theology. It is not the schools responsibility. However, the schools have no right to denounce Christianity. You can practice any other religion as long as it does not mention God or Jesus. This is simply discriminationat at best and a blatant attack on Christians. The schools however do play an important role in raising our children. Without the basic fundamentals of the bible our children have no sense of the meaning of life, love or even the simple act of how to treat one another. Sadly many of us parents are not teaching our children either. This forces them to find out the wrong way. If our children were allowed an even playing field at least some of them would catch on to biblical teachings and therefore benefit many. The moral decline would be far less devastating than it is now.

Hello Justcallmeleroy, Thank you for responding. I believe God has set everything in motion, including the election. If God did not want Obama, he would not have won. The reasons however, may be good or bad. Judgement will come to all nations, including this nation. The sad part is that we have come to such a low place in our nations history, that we vote for anything that's different. Any kind of change will do, without even a thought of what the consequences might be. Now the choice has been made and already we are beginning to see negative results. Once we as a people throw moral values to the wind, we will reap a whirlwind of sorrow.

someonewhoknows is someonewhoapparentlydoesn'tknow—the first schools in America were started by churches and the first public schools only used two books—and one was the Bible.

As for the author: Fantastic Hub!  Every word is true.  It is great to see you in the Hub community standing up for the Truth.  As you can see by your first guest, most people aren't malicious, they simply don't know what they are talking about.  But you do!  God Bless You for it.

HI,james I live in a 200 year old country, that has been controlled one way or another by government and religious schools,as well as banks that are controled by Religious and secular organizations.Which dictatorship is better?

I pick this up from someone who posted it in a comment. While I don't agree with the wage and price control section for my own reason's,it has quite a lot of useful information on governmement.
