America's Got Talent Finale!

And the winner is ...
Kevin Skinner!? You've got to be kidding me!
America doesn't have talent! America has issues!
Who do you think should have won?

Okay, so Kevin Skinner seems like a likeable, affable guy. A decent family man. But, my Lord, that man CANNOT sing! He's flat, he can't hold a note, and he seemed to get worse as the competition went along.
Some argue that maybe he isn't the best singer, but he sings from his heart. OMG! Granted, he is an emotional singer, but he is not talented. I can sing with all the emotion in the world, but I guarantee you -- no one wants to hear it. And, again, let me remind everyone -- the show is called America's Got Talent -- not America's Got Effort!
How the man is going to hold down a headline show is beyond me.
There were so many other acts more suited for Vegas, or at least as headliners in other cities.
- Recycled Percussion is the prototype of a Vegas show. And, they were very good.
- Vegas loves it comedians, and Grandma Lee was good, had great comedic timing, and very likable. Again, not sure she could have held down a headline act, but it warmed my heart that she could go so far in fulfilling her life-long dream.
- The Texas Tenors were raw, but good. They would go over very well in Branson or Austin City Limits.
- Lawrence Beaman and Barbara Padilla were both absolutely magnificent. Beeman, maybe more Vegas-worthy -- not sure how many people go to Vegas for opera. Both of these singers will have recording contracts and live shows lined up very soon, if the don't already.
- The Fab Five were entertaining and definitely could headline somewhere. Possibly Branson. What I envision for those five beautiful sisters is a variety show of the Hee Haw type. That would be FUN! The Texas Tenors could also feature on the same show.
- Voices of Glory were phenomenal. Not Vegas material, but phenomenal, nonetheless. They should have recording contracts - Gospel, specifically - very soon, again, if they don't already.
- Hairo Torres - what can I say - his act/dancing was unique and somewhat entertaining, but not the caliber of the rest of the entertainers (although he was more watchable than Kevin Skinner).
- Finally, Drew Stevyns. This guy has a boyish charm, but - unlike Kevin Skinner, could at least stay on key. Again, not Top 10 talent.
The Remainder of the Evening
The judges and Nick Cannon were impeccibly turned out! Sharon was complaining that her gown was uncomfortable, but the gown was so incredibly stunning, and Sharon was so incredibly stunning in it! Piers looked very dapper in his black suit, and even the Hoff showed up in a semi-respectable outfit. Very nice!
The real Stars' performances were very well done!
- Our hometown Rascal Flatts never fail to deliver.
- Thelma Houston's "Don't Leave Me this Way" incorporated the 10 Finalists and was fun, lively and entertaining.
- I have not seen Cirque Du Soleil live, but after getting a taste Wednesday evening, I'm jonesin' for more.
- I am not exactly familiar with Leona Lewis, but I enjoyed her song "Happy" very much.
- Susan Boyle - incredible singer, but about to the end of her proverbial 15 minutes with me.
- The highlight of the evening - especially for my husband - was Shakira grinding those famous hips and humping that lucky stage monitor. Yummy!
The show lasted a full two hours - entirely TOO long, in my opinion. The show could have been cut to an hour. I know the attempt was to add drama to the reveals, but this attempt at slow-boiling drama grew increasingly tedious as the show went on. I have never been so happy to have a DVR in my LIFE!
- Sharing the Road with Bicycles when they are Not Req...
With the economy in the toilet and the price of gas at around $2.50 per gallon right now, I have noticed a lot more bicycles on the road going to and from work. And, I applaud these people for traveling... - Casinos in Ohio: The Great Controversy
I live in Columbus, smack dab in the center of Ohio. I love to go to casinos, but I rarely get to go, because I would have to drive at least two hours to get to one. I could go east to Wheeling, West... - Manners and Common Sense, People!
Manners and common sense are at an all-time low. Holy crap, people! What is with you? If you can't have both, at least try to implement one or the other. You see that big flashing yellow arrow about... - Manners and Common Sense, People - Part 2
I went with my elderly mother to Red Lobster one day and we put our name on the list and waited for a table. My mother is 86 years old, hunched over, and uses a walker. The waiting area chairs were completely...

I was just disappointed because I thought there were more talented people on the show that could have won. He just wasn't as good. I'm was happy for Kevin, because he did give up a lot to be there, but he is not the one I would have chosen based solely on talent. You're awesome.

I think Barbara Padillia had the most overall talent but I enjoyed Lawrence Beaman the most... WOW I didnt get The Voices of Glory at all! Sorry...I also enjoyed The Fab Five and Grandma Lee but I agree with what you had to say about them. Like they said some of the most popular singers out there don't have the best voices but they touch people. I agree w/what you said about the winner but my response was good for him he deserves a break and could be coached to one day be the best. The others that were really good will go on to make deals with or without winning this particular competition. Overall I agreed with most of what you said!
