Human body is made up of many things like organs, skin, bones, and so forth. If we look at it, its not less than any complex system with so many things fitted inside precisely and perfectly. Our body is divided into several systems in order to comprehend it appropriately and get a good idea of how one part of our body is linked to another, and how one tiny nerve can do miracles. Its important to know what part of our body plays what role in our body! There are dozens of things required to learn about a human body. Imagine, how long does it take to complete your medical degree, when other degrees do not take that long. I was just going through a book, which talked about many things related to human body, describing each system and other stuff. I came across some very amusing facts about a human body, which I thought of sharing here in order to let the non-medical people know some interesting stuff about our bodies!

~ Though our brain appears so small in size, but that little piece comprises of nearly 100 billion nerve cells, known as neurons, which are helpful in collecting and transmitting electrochemical signals.

~Brain is so small in size that it makes up just about 2% of the body's weight but despite of its little size, it uses 20% of the oxygen and blood supply of our body.

~ Blinking plays a vital role in lubricating and cleaning our eyes, and adults blink every 4-6 seconds on an average. On the other hand, new borns blink every 1 minute or 2. The duration of a blink of an eye is nearly 0.3 seconds.

~ An adult body consists of nearly 5 feet of large intestine and 25 feet of small intestine, which is alot narrower than the large one.

~ An adult has 6 quarts of blood that circulates through whole body 3 times every day!

~ When a baby is born, it has nearly 300 bones, and many of these bones fuse with each other as the baby grows, and we end up having a total of 206 bones.

~ Human beings mostly have 12 sets of ribs, but nearly 1 of every 20 people is born with at least one extra rib.

~ More than half of our 206 bones are in our hands and feet. There are 27 bones in one hand and 26 bones in one foot. This means that a total of 106 bones are in our hands and feet.

~ The smallest bone in a human body is in the ear. This bone is about a tenth of an inch long.

~ The biggest bone in a human body is the femur, also known as thigh bone. It is nearly one-fourth of our height.

~ Our body's 650 muscles make up nearly half of our body weight!

I have one you could add: The hyoid bone is the only bone not connected to the rest of the skeleton. It is located in the muscles and connective tissue of our neck and it is a forensically acceptable indicator of strangulation if broken.

No wonder the Psalmist said "we area fearfully and wonderfully made". Doctors can study for a life time on one part of the human body and never master all of it's resources (like the heart or nerve endings).
