An Answered Prayer By God

 

Help me know thy ways, Great One.

Help me climb the narrow stairs.

My heart wants you, my ego does not.
Sometimes life is so hard to bear.

 

I have seen the light and had a glimpse

of celestial kingdoms on the other side.

There are moments when I feel free

from anger, loneliness, fear and pride.

 

The moment I think I am progressing

without a diversion or turn.

My ego gets me in trouble again.
There is still so much to learn.

 

When I feel sad and unworthy

of the love you have for all.

I hear your voice behind my voice

when I am feeling small.

 

Its sound has a sweeter tone

than all the music I have heard.

It sings a song I could never write.

I could never think of the words.

 

“Rest dear soul,” it sings to me.

Listen to the story I tell.

It needs to be heard again and again.

Please listen very well.

 

Moses, David, and many others,

the ego they tried to tame.

Many times they failed

but they never forgot my name.

 

Some call me Allah, Elohim, God or the Tao.

I am the name which appeals to you.

Just call out to me when you need help.

I always answer those who do.

 

The problems you face on earth are alike

although different some beliefs may be.

Temptation must be faced and conquered

before your soul and spirit are free.

 

Do not expect others to adopt the

beliefs that are held by you.

If you continue in your search

you will discover what for you is true.

 

I can be reached anywhere.

This concept I implore you to believe.

Until you do you limit yourselves

from the truths that are yours to receive.

 

What does this mean you may wonder.

I know your questions before you ask.

I will give you a truth to help you.

It is one that I wish for you to grasp.

 

Many wise souls are willing to help you.

They have some answers you seek.

Respect and heed their words well.
Most of all be humble and meek.

 

You look to the sky and pray to hear

my voice tell you which way to go.

There are pure souls in all religions

who I have inspired to write wise books.

The Koran, Holy Bible, The Gita and others

reveal many truths to those who look.

 

It is important to realize that

these books the same wisdom contain.

They speak of  love, hope, and faith

and how to be free of torment and pain.

 

Open your mind to all sacred books.
Read the ones to which you are led.

Grasp the truths behind their words

and your spirit will always be fed.

 

In time you will have grown enough

and learned all that you need to know.

Then one by one you will return to me.

At last again will I be whole!
