‘An Interesting Thought

‘We must BE before we can DO and we can DO only to the extent which we ARE and what we ARE depends on what we THINK!’

Charles F Haanel

Q: Have you ever considered the resources at your disposal?

Q: Did you know you have all the resources you need to achieve anything you focus your attention on?

Q: If you knew this – What could you BE?

My father used to remind me when I was younger to be careful what you wish for, now you like me have probably heard this saying many times yet we consider not its true meaning.  One of my favourite books ‘The Secret’ by Rhonda Byrne talks about the ‘law of attraction’  did my Dad know this?

When we consider what it is we know today for a fact thanks to many years of research then this thought has considerable consequences.

DID YOU KNOW?

> We all think with pictures, sounds and emotions.

CHALLENGE: Think of a Blue elephant.

> We all have the ability to visualise things, whatever they are.

CHALLENGE: Can you see your front door of your house in your mind?

> We all have spent time worrying.

CHALLENGE: How many things that you have spent time worrying about have actually come true???

A friend of mine many years ago at the tender age of fifteen years of age was given some news that changed their life considerably- he was diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalitis.  As a teenager he was strong, fit, captain of the Rugby Team and at the top of health conditions.  This news seemed to devastate him.

(For more information visit: http://www.afme.org.uk/)

As time passed by he stumbled across an old book that talked about focussing your mind on what you want.  I remember the day he explained to me a the time I thought he was bonkers, he had read that your brain has the ability to focus all of your energy and ability on one thing and increases hugely your likely hood of success.

Since this particular time we have discovered it is actually called your Reticular Activating System, which plays a vital part in helping, you achieve your goals.  Have you ever been at an airport or train station and despite the immense noise or distractions an announcement comes out over the tannoy and grabs your attention and you then adjust your actions and plans immediately.  It is the RAS that does this.  It also helps spot new things- ever bought a car and noticed suddenly it is everywhere around you.  CHALLENGE: Count the white vans on your way home from work today??  You’ll be surprised.

Amazingly the lesson this young chap was so important at the time, he did something creative and printed an A4 piece of paper with a sole dot printed in the centre point and each day focussed on the vast white area, which to him represented all the wonderful things he could do once recovered from his illness.

This is such a simple message yet staggeringly intelligent, if we use our conscious mind to harness our Reticular Activating System we can use it to set goals, visualise success and positively affirm our beliefs and aspirations.

The young chap went on to a full recovery, which is incredible; the knowledge he learnt was critical to this success.

So when we consider the quote above:

We must BE before we can DO and we can DO only to the extent which we ARE and what we ARE depends on what we THINK!’

Charles F Haanel

We should never underestimate the very power of each thought we have and how it can affect our lives.
