In today's hodgepodge of online gaming there are games that are good and then there are games that are excellent. I have found a game that could truly be classified as excellent and can be run on the average computer with average graphics capability! To top that all off it is 100% free as an open source game.

With the advent of Massively Multi-player Online games it is easy for people to get lost in a sea of various choices as to what game they want to play. But, what about the basics in a shooter? The people that make and play games like Nexuiz love the game-types that come with them. They love Capture the Flag and Team Deathmatch and Free For All. They also love Domination and Rocket Arena. Some even like 1v1'ing in their spare time after work or when they get a break on the weekends. I personally like the fun that comes from playing on a team and running the flag or hanging back and defending my own team's flag. Or, what about playing middle position and controlling the middle of the map when a friendly flag carrier brings the flag back to base? A game-type like Capture the Flag has definite resemblances to a game like soccer in the real world, and a lot of us online gamers like a good team based game.

A lot of people out there have an "average" laptop, or an average desktop and still want to be able to play a few high quality fun games without having to invest a substantial amount of money to get themselves a rig able to play any game out there. The average college kid for instance might need that money for other things as he or she strives to get an education. People who run the average computer want something that is fun, free, and will run on the hardware they already have and Nexuiz is that game. It is open source, (which means it is totally free), and will run well on any standard pc or mac that is used to play it as it is a very scalable game. It can run on everything from older Geforce 4-6 type cards all the way up to an Nvidia 8600GT on ultimate settings. It can even run on lower settings on today's integrated graphics solutions and give good playable frame-rates. On the other hand if you check the ultimate settings option it can bring something as powerful as a quad core based computer with an Nvidia 8600 GT Graphics card and plenty of ram to it's knees (and the 8600 GT is a known solid performer). This game will definitely benefit from mid range graphics solution as well as performing quite smoothly on lower range hardware like an 8400GS Graphics card should you have those cards available to run the game on.

Nexuiz does not just bring "oldskool" game-types to the table. It brings it's own physics engine, it's own user created map selection, it's own weapon selection and firing modes, and it's own takes on the various FPS game-types some of us gamers have come to love over the years. It is truly a fun and free game that can be run on almost any computer the end user would use to run it. If you have purchased a computer recently from one of the major name brand manufacturers and are looking for a game that will run on your existing graphics card then Nexuiz just might be right for you.

So do yourself a favor and give it a try, you just might find yourself making friends and having fun. Who knows you might even end up joining a clan and playing it like a online sport.

Personally I enjoy Nexuiz and play it myself and would like to share this with you as it has already given me many hours of enjoyment in the wide world that is online gaming.

Nexuiz is truly an excellent game for an average computer.

Make sure you check out the links I have here to get you started and I hope to see you in the game!

Nice hub. I'll have to check this game out sometime. I haven't played a decent FPS in about 4 years.
