An Open Letter To Jack

About the mind of a poet
A letter to a friend who read this poem: http://hubpages.com/hub/Sometimes_I_Am_Drowning_poetry
Thanks Jack, I'm behind poetry wise. Still writing, but lazy about posting it I guess. It's motivating to know someone actually noticed I hadn't posted in a while. This particular poem was about my real life, but I was well aware of taking the 'dark glasses' perspective.
Sometimes, after reading this or that poem, I get emails from people asking if I'm suicidal. I take that as a compliment. But often, the poems are either about an event that happened long ago, or a fictitious event, or a poem I wrote when thinking how someone else must have felt. It's the price of being an empath. It's always why I can't take sides...I tend to see nearly every viewpoint as valid. I also write songs for a male guitarist, so I often write from the male point of view so it will sound right when he sings it. It's all a great challenge. Aye?
And I happen to be melancholy by nature. Poetry is cathartic. Sometimes you just have to write down everything that is bothering you, and then you feel better.

There is truth in any fiction, and a reader can find false notes in any recitation of fact. Thanks for the insight into a poetic mind.
