I believe many of you already know what is anchor text and how it can benefit you in your websites or blogs especially if you're are familiar in search engine optimization. However, not everybody who owns a websites or blogs know what is anchor text about. And here, I hope this post will benefit them.

An anchor text is the hyperlinked word or words on a web page. For example, "After attended the internet marketing seminar, only then we understand why we need autoresponder to increase sales in affiliate marketing."

In this sentence, we have two anchor texts, namely "why we need autoresponder" and "affiliate marketing". Both anchor texts have its link URL, that brings website visitors to the relevant landing page.

When website visitors click on "why we need autoresponder", they will be brought to the relevant landing page that discusses the subject "why we need autoresponder". Similarly, if we use anchor text "affiliate marketing", we are telling the search engines that the page is about "affiliate marketing".

The words contained in the Anchor text can determine the ranking that target page will receive by search engines. Therefore, it is important to include keywords or key phrases in the anchor text to boost the target page search engine ranking.

According to search engine algorithms, I will get credit in the search results for key phases "why we need autoresponder" and "affiliate marketing". This is because the purpose of search engines is to provide searchers highly targeted page URLs with relevant content or landing page.

When we do anchor text optimization, try not to use irrelevant words as anchor text. For example, "Find out more on the benefits of autoresponder" is far better than "Find out more on the benefits of using autoresponder here" This is because we want to rank highly for "benefits of autoresponder". Obviously, we wouldn't want to rank highly for "here".

Make use of this link building knowledge to lead visitors from page to page and site to site. You would be surprised how easy it is to find suitable instance keyword or phrase that allows you to do anchor text optimization.

John,

My name is Joe Russ. I read your article here and I'm hoping you can help me. I'm trying to get the hang of hyperlinks and anchor text. Will you please go to one of my sites. The url is Guitar-Lessons-Plus. after the Hub Pages part. In the last module you will see some html code followed by a link to Clickbank. What I don't understand is why the html code is visible in the page. When I do the exact same thing in Squidoo, only the anchor text is visible and the rest is invisible. Is there something different about doing it here that I am missing.

I would appreciate your help. Thanks

Sincerely,

Joe Russ
