And Stone Wept in script form
65Young Gypsy Woman
FADE IN:
INT. CABIN - DAY - 1700’S
An OLD WOMAN sits in front of a pottery wheel. Rather than causing the wheel to turn, she circles her hand above the clay, controlling it somehow, causing it to slowly fashion itself into a beautiful, textured vase.
EXT. CABIN - DAY
A river runs alongside the cabin. A middle-aged GYPSY WOMAN, the old woman’s daughter, wades in a shallow area of the river. As she waves her hand over the water, clay rises to the surface. She skims it from the top, depositing it in the bag slung over her shoulder.
EXT. MARKET PLACE - DAY
The Gypsy Woman now sells pottery in the square, along with various other tradespeople selling crafts, produce, etc.
A couple of well-dressed MEN stop by her booth. They go through the motions of checking out her wares, but are clearly more interested in checking her out. Finally, one of the men picks up a hand-painted bowl.
MAN #1: My wife would love this.
MAN #2: As would mine.
MAN #1: Shall we bid on it then?
The Gypsy Woman smiles at her good fortune.
INT. TAVERN - NIGHT
JEREMY and ANTON, the two men from the market place, sit at a table, drinking beer. The bowl, purchased at a high price off the gypsy, sits between them.
ANTON (regarding the bowl): You taking that home?
I know, this is a plate, not a bowl
Jeremy looks moodily at the bowl.
JEREMY: I had a different prize in mind.
He knocks back the rest of his beer and slams the mug down on the table, having made up his mind.
INT. STABLES - NIGHT
The hand-painted bowl lies, shattered, on the dirt floor. Anton holds the Gypsy Woman’s arms as she is raped by Jeremy on a rough bed of straw.
Jeremy screams at the hysterical woman...
JEREMY: Quit your balling, I’m just getting my money’s worth!
EXT. STABLES - NIGHT
A FARMER walks by the stables. HEARING a commotion from within, he goes to investigate.
INT. STABLES - NIGHT
Walking in on the rape, the Farmer readies himself for his turn, rather than trying to help the woman.
FARMER: Don’t mind if I do.
EXT. CABIN - NIGHT
All along the river, clay rises to the surface in violent swirls and slashes. The Old Woman glances out the window, concerned that her daughter has not yet returned.
Looking towards the pathway, she does not notice the strange activity in the river.
EXT. FOREST - NIGHT
Dirty and disheveled from her ordeal, the Gypsy Woman stumbles along a rough path cut through the forest.
INT. CABIN - NIGHT
The Old Woman holds her tearful, trembling daughter, who sits on the floor. Rocking her back and forth, the Old Woman utters a bone-chilling curse.
OLD WOMAN: Vengeance, fly to them.
INT. BARN - NIGHT
The Farmer is asleep, sprawled on the dirt floor, with an open bottle of liquor lying nearby.
OLD WOMAN (Voice Over): Find them, one and all...
Wet clay pushes open the barn door and spreads across the floor towards him.
INT. FARMER’S HOUSE - CHILDREN’S ROOM - NIGHT
A BOY and GIRL, aged six and four, lie asleep in their beds.
OLD WOMAN (V.O. continued): ...and all those that are dear to them.
Clay oozes under the door and into their room.
INT. ANTON’S HOUSE - BEDROOM - NIGHT
Anton and his wife lie asleep in bed. The clay oozing in through their open window has already begun to engulf them.
OLD WOMAN (V.O. continued): Bind to their skin...
INT. JEREMY’S HOUSE - BEDROOM - NIGHT
In the final stage of engulfing Jeremy and his wife, who sleep in separate beds, the clay seals over their faces.
Bind to their skin and show their true form as blantant as their sin
OLD WOMAN (V.O. continued): ...and show their true form...
Jeremy’s clay outer shell morphs into a bat-like countenance, complete with wings.
OLD WOMAN (V.O. continued): ...blatant as their sin.
INT. CABIN - DAY
Still sitting on the floor, the Gypsy Woman is now quiet in her mother’s arms, her eyes staring off blankly. The Old Woman looks to the window, where the sky has begun to brighten.
OLD WOMAN (continuing): And with the sun let them be bound...
EXT. ANTON’S HOUSE - DAY
The sun creeps up over the horizon.
INT. ANTON’S HOUSE - BEDROOM - DAY
Anton, his clay exterior that of a vicious looking man-bird, and his clay covered, but otherwise normal looking wife, awaken to the horror of their clay exteriors hardening around them.
EXT. FARMER’S HOUSE - DAY
The Farmer’s children can be heard SCREAMING inside.
OLD WOMAN (V.O.): ...day by day, each knowing their fate...
INT. BARN - DAY
The Farmer awakens at the SOUND of his children in distress.
OLD WOMAN (V.O. continued): ...and powerless against it.
His jackal-like clay exterior hardens, freezing him in the process of getting to his feet. The children’s screams abruptly go silent.

I'm going to keep plugging away until I get that dang novel done. Might be the last thing I do. ;-)
I like it, Guardian. I think it would transfer to film very well with the brief, to-the-point scenes. I can see the photography as being very textured. Very good!
Awesome, there is hope ;-). Thanks so much for the encouragement. Working on the book right now.

An interesting idea, and you don't "suck" as you suggested was possible on the other hub. You have a very cool concept going, I hope you keep working on it and get your novel done. Good luck!
