Just when you thought you heard it all, the news out of S Korea is staggering. they've finally done it. An engineered dog, that will glow red in the dark when special lighting is applied. I must have one of these. Never again would I step on my dog late at night while moving from room to room in the dark. Other than that, I can't for the life of me think of any other purpose. Like those blinking light sneakers, they seem senseless to me. but some highly intelligent people put a lot of work into this, so I suppose i am missing the meaning here. Not to be outdone in the stupid arena, the govt today announced that it knew the overflight of downtown manhattan, trailed by a fighter jet Would cause consternation and possible panic to a people who have seen that movie before. And yet, stand by their decision to not have the public know it was only a photo shoot. One word would be insensitive, but i rather think of it as assinine. What were they thinking? Why weren't they thinking? And what of the mayor and police dept that allowed themselves to be sworn to secrecy over the matter? Are they nuts too? Evacuating buildings in that neighborhood after what they once went through? You gotta believe the shrinks cell phones were going wild. lastly, a new resolution getting ready to be voted on is loosely called a hate crimes bill. from the looks of it it is more like the intro to a bad porno movie. 30 new forms of sexual activity will now join the list of protections under the hate crimes laws. I have a hard time understanding the premesis for these bills. Isn't the offense already a crime? Don't judges have latitude when sentencing offenders? Why are certain groups more entitled to extra protection than others? And who and where are these people that need all this protection? We're in the middle of a flu pandemic and financial meltdown,  and this is what congress is concerned with? Well, at least i don't think they're spending billions on it. Which is a good. I have concluded that i am indeed out of touch, out of step and out on a limb when it comes to today's world. Maybe i can start a club, and get some extra govt protections too. Any Joiners?
