Angelina Jolie at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, January 29, 2005
Angelina Jolie at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, January 29, 2005

There's hardly anyone who doesn't know the formidable Angelina Jolie, but how many of you know how much she travels, and to which places, and when? And for what? And with whom? Which hotels in Palm Springs and New York, and Chicago does she prefer to stay at? And under what names?

Let's just say that this hub is Madame Jolie-Pitt's virtual stalker. Not only will I be listing all the places she's been to, with dates and other details, but I'll also keep it updated (as far as possible) with all her trips and journeys in future.

Think I'm nuts? You're probably right. Or maybe I have nothin better to do...

Angelina Voight Jolie was born on June 4 1975 in Los Angeles, CA. Which means the first place she saw was the City of Angels. Couple that with a name like Angelina, and her career as an actress in Hollywood, and you have to say that there's something about her destiny which links her to Los Angeles.

One year later, in 1976, her parents seperated, and little Angelina moved to Palisades, New York with her mother and brother.

When she was 11 years old, they moved back to Los Angeles.

At the age of 14, Jolie became a model, traveling to New York and London, in addition to work at home in Los Angeles.

Jolie began her professional movie career in 1993 with Cyborg 2, and by the time she was filming Tomb Raider, Jolie was already a rising star, and became an international celebrity after that. During the filming of the Lara Croft Tomb Raider series in Cambodia, she got interested in (and aware of) the enormity of humanitarian and poverty issues. In Feb 2001, she took her first trip on behalf of the UNHCR - an 18 day tour of refugee camps in Sierra Leone and Tanzania.

A few months later, she returned to Cambodia for 2 weeks, and also went to Pakistan to meet with Afghan refugees.

In 2002, Jolie went to the Tham Hin refugee camp in Thailand, and visited Colombian refugees in Ecuador. She went to Kosovo and also met refugees from Sudan at a camp in Kenya. And also Angolan refugees in Namibia.

In 2003, Jolie took a 6 day trip to tanzania, followed by a week long visit to Sri Lanka, and subsequently on a 4 day mission in Russia while on her visit to North Caucuses. In December 2003, she was in Jordan to visit Iraqi refugees and also went to Egypt to meet with Sudanese refugees.

Jolie's first U.N. trip within the United states was to Arizona in 2004, when she visisted asylum seekers and also a home for unaccompanied children in Phoenix. In June 2004, she flew to Chad to see the Sudanese refugee from Darfur. 4 months later, she again visited the region, this time heading straight for Darfur. In 2004, she also met with Afghan refugees in Thailand, and also spent the Christmas holidays in Lebanon, where she met with refugees and young cancer patients.

2005 brings us to the start of Angelina Jolie's saga with Brad Pitt, which started while filming the movie Mr. & Mrs. Smith. I'm not going to get into that, except to say that their first photograped sighting as a couple was at a beach in Kenya in April 2005, along with her son Maddox, who had been adopted from Cambodia in 2002. And she adopted a girl - Zahara Marley Jolie-Pitt - from Ethiopia in July 2005. Brad Pitt was reporedly present when Jolie picked up Zahara in Ethiopia.

Anyway, in 2005, she re-visited Pakistan to see the Afghan refugees, and also met with then president Pervez Musharraf and the Pakistani Prime Minister. She later returned to Pakistan in Nov during the Thanksgiving weekend, Brad Pitt in tow, after the Kashmir quake.

In 2006, the Jolie-Pitt duo were in Haiti, visiting a school run by a charity. Jolie also met with Afghan and Burmese refugees in India while shooting for a film. Jolie's Christmas was spent with Columbian refugees in San Jose, Costa Rica. Also in May 2006, Jolie gave birth to a daughter - Shiloh Nouvel Jolie-Pitt - in Swakopmund, Namibia.

In 2007, Jolie returned back to Chad, and also visited Syria and made two trips to Iraq, meeting Iraqi refugees and the U.S. and multi-national forces. Also in March 2007, Brangelina (as the couple is known now) adopted a 3 year old boy in Vietnam - Pax Thien Jolie-Pitt.

In 2008, while at the Cannes Film Festival, Jolie confirmed that she was expecting. In July 2008, She gave birth to twins (a boy - Knox Léon Jolie-Pitt, and a girl - Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt) in Nice, France.

During this entire period, Jolie also made more than 20 trips to Washington DC, and met with members of Congress, and also was invited to speak at the World Economic Forum in Davos in both 2005 and 2006.

Jolie and Pitt, like most celebrities, do not register under their own names at hotels. They use aliases. They used Bruce and Jasmine Pilaf while staying at the Parker Palm Springs hotel. Jolie also likes to check-in as Miss Manners or Mrs. Smith, which she uses at one of her favorite hotels in Chicago - The Peninsula.

In February 2008, the whole family was in California's Mammoth Mountain Ski Area for a vacation. Last month, in October 2008, Jolie and Pitt and their full brood was in New York for a press conference for the Clint Eastwood film 'Changeling'. They flew in from Germany where the family had been camped out for Pitt's shooting of the Quentin Tarantano film 'Inglorious Bastards'. After a brief stay at one of the finest hotels in New York, the midtown Manhattan Waldorf-Astoria, they decamped for New Orleans.

Her latest appearance was at the release of the Kung Fu Panda DVD release (she provides the voiceover for the tigress in the film) at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

Wow, with her world travels and political work, I might have to include her in my female candidates for President, 2016 Hub, lol. Thanks for an interesting read!

True. Before writing this, I had thought that her interest in charity was just a hobby, you know, like famous people do to improve their image. But a gal who spends Christmas and Thanksgiving with refugees and poor and sick kids in third world countries has to be really serious about it.
