Anger Volcano
62This is an anger management activity I use in anger management small group counseling, however it could be used in a classroom as well.
Objective: To enable students to think about things that make them angry and to list the ways that they react to that anger.
Materials: Paper and pencils
Activity: Have students draw a picture of an empty volcano. Inside the volcano, students are to list things that make them angry, such as someone picking on them, losing at a game, etc....
Have students draw a big lava bubble coming out of the top of the volcano. Explain to students that the volcano erupting is like how they show their anger. Have them list the things that they do in reaction to the things that make them angry, such as cry, hit, scream, yell, etc....
Allow students to share these.
Discuss ways to control anger, such as deep breathing, physical activity, removing self from situation, counting to ten, etc....
