^{Hunter x Hunter} is an 1999 fantasy-adventure anime series directed by Kazuhiro Furuhashi and produced by Nippon Animation. There are 62 episodes of HunterxHunter original series, that are an adaptation of the first eleven volumes of the manga of the same name by Yoshihiro Togashi. There are also three more HunterxHunter OVA releases, that covers subsequent manga chapters.

Both the Manga and the Anime series of Hunter x Hunter had an huge reception not only in Japan but around the World. With unique and sympathetic characters and swashbuckling surprising events, this franchise has obtained million of fans, captivating more than the juvenile audience it was firstly aimed at. It then proceeded to expand in several venues, like video-games, musicals and even theatrical plays!

It's main character, Gon, has been on the top 10 most loved anime characters for several years, whenever there's this kind of polls in Japan. I think you'll love him too - particularly his straightforwardness, instincts, resilience, courage and loyalty.

Hunter x Hunter is quintessentially about a little boy, Gon Freecss, that discovers that his long lost father Ging is a famous Hunter and is presumably still alive somewhere in the world. From that moment, Gon decides to embark on a quest: he sets out to follow his father footsteps, by becoming an hunter himself with the ultimate goal of meeting Ging!

This eventually makes him leave the little island where he's been raised by his aunt and try his luck on the incredible hard multi-step Hunter Exam, where he meets several friends, each one with an interesting past and motivations to become Hunters. The grand adventure has begun, and Gon and his friends will have many great adventures from now on!

And you'll be delighted to accompany them on this journey, I guarantee you!

Hunter x Hunter is a brilliant anime show. It's fast paced, funny, and you'll watch our main characters being constantly challenged in different and original ways - while being awed at how they overcome those difficulties.

I really like this kind of shows, where adventure after adventure you follow the growth and development of our heroes, that start out small, but thanks to hard training yes, but also the power of their own kind hearts and friendship bonds, become bigger than themselves!

With nice and solid animation and adventurous easy-going music tunes that stick in your ear, Hunter x Hunter provides great entertainment value and will make you smile every time!

Maybe the only bad thing I can point to this show is that it's still not finished! It's mangaka Tokashi has been "ill" for the last couple of years and because of it HunterxHunter story has come to an halt. It's because of this that you'll notice so many HunterxHunter OVA's. Because the production of new chapters had become so erratic, producers had to finish the anime at the middle of the Spider's Exam Arc and kept on releasing new content as soon it became available on manga.

This was the only way to give a sense of continuation to the series, without creating filler episodes. So, stay tuned for new OVA's!
