Anne Sportun Rings
76Not unusual, but...
Recently I purchased two Anne Sportun rings to use as an engagement set. I ended up not getting engaged, and now have the rings in my posession. I do not wish to keep the rings, and so have been looking at my options. My first thought was ebay, but that doesn't seem to be working out too well. There are several other sites that seem to focus on jewelry, but I don't really know anything at all about the subject, so I don't know who to trust and who may be a bit on the shady side.
This Hub is a place where I would like to be able to put some useful information for others who are in a similar situation, but at this time I am not fully aware of what options there may be! I will list what I know for now, and then add more as time goes on! Any suggestions and additions are welcome!

Options for Selling
In the instance of having purchased the two rings and now not wanting them, I figure the first option would be to sell them for as close to the value as I paid as possible. That may not be the easiest thing to do, but it is certainly easier today with sites like ebay than it was 15 or 20 years ago. There are also sites like Ex-Cessories that will help people sell rings, and are focused specifically on jewelry from "break-ups". Many pieces of jewelry are listed with a brief history of where they were obtained and now that the relationship is over the owner is ready to separate from the physical memories. It's an interesting concept!
The Pawn Shop
You could always take your jewelry to the pawn shop! I really have no clue as to how that would turn out at your local pawn shop, but when I took my rings in to have them appraised, the guy basically offered me about $40 for the gold, and said the diamonds were worthless due to the ammount of work he would have to put in to take them out of the gold setting. Not exactly the offer I was expecting!
If you do decide to go with a pawn shop, good luck! Don't expect much!
ebay
As an update to my situation, I was able to sell one of my rings on ebay for about 1/3 of the price that I paid. I figure it was more than I had to start with, and it is more than I would have received had I given the rings to my ex and she had decided they were hers to keep.
I still have one ring to sell, and will probably put it up on ebay again in the next week or so.
UPDATE:
I was finally able to sell both rings, and am glad that I was at least able to get some money back on my investment. If I had to do it again, I would have waited to make the purchase, but life goes on and you can't change the past!
