Hugs

86400 seconds in a day

The video below explains what I'm referring to with this statement.

When I was 17 and a senior in high school, I set a goal for my achievement in life. I think it went something like this. I was going to have my own business, retire and build a house in the country all by the age of 50. I was in a race against one of my best friends. I think his goal was similar to mine. I haven't talked to him much since high school, but last time I checked he did own his own business and has been pretty successful in his life, financially.

Over the years I've made a lot of money and spent it like most people do. When I was younger I knew there was always time and that when the timing was right I would do the right thing, or things that would insure my financial freedom and success. It wasn't long however until my twenties turned into my thirties, and my thirties turned into my forties. I'm looking back at my life and wondering where it all went? I'm not talking about money so to speak, but time!

86,400 seconds in a day. What will you do?

Read all the books, self help and motivational

I bet I've listened to most of today's motivational speakers and spent a fortune on self educating myself. I can quote from the masters and follow most of their steps. I've set goals and I believe they are important in our lives, in everything we do.

The question I have to ask myself and everyone else reading this blog, is did I wait too long? Am I fulfilling my life purpose, or do I even know what my life purpose even is?

If you’re like me you have been taught that you go to school, graduate, college or some other form of technical school, finally ending up in the job of your dreams. You work hard for 30-40 years and set aside enough money to last during your golden years. But what if that didn't happen just the way you planned? Do you, or should I continue in the later part of our lives to keep searching for that perfect career, place to live with a big house and white picket fence?

My point is this, when does it finally click that the life you are living, or have chosen has been there the entire time. Not everyone will have the money and fortune they desire. If you think about it, is it really all that it’s cracked up to be anyway? I watch the news daily as I get home from work and listen to the media tearing down the celebrities. It seems they all get divorced and their lives fall apart in the end. Most die young and did they really live or enjoy their lives? I look at Michael Jackson, what a fabulous performer, but he died at 50 years of age and never had a child hood or much a life really. He made his fortune and lost it all in the blink of an eye.

I’ve heard in the past from many people, that you need “to take time to smell the roses.” Look around us, the world is a beautiful place. There are people sitting on a park bench that are beautiful people with tremendous stories to tell. I might get more out of life just sitting and talking to an elderly person and looking at pictures of their grand children.

I remember a movie many years ago called “Meatballs” starring Bill Murray. He was a group leader for a summer camp, or something like that. Anyway their team was terrible in sports and was losing big time to the other team that had all the money. His team mates were down in the dumps and ready to throw in the towels when he had this pep talk and basically said, “it just doesn’t matter!” It doesn’t matter whether we win or lose because all of the other team players will still get all of the hot chicks, because they have all of the money!! So knowing this, why don’t we just slow down and not worry so much about our jobs, lives, finances and etc. We need to take time for ourselves and enjoy the time we have left on this earth. Go out today and just have fun. Give someone a HUG!
