History of yoga dates back to thousands of years.Yogasana refers to a wide range of postures that have been bestowed by yogis of india for the past decades.Its history says that yogasanas evolved as an integral part of spiritual practice that wasb oriented towards purification, accomplishment and realisation.Progress depends on how much effort you are willing to put into it.The focus is on being comfortable as you start doing these asanas.Do not strain and stress yourself.

Simhasana. Simha means lion and 'the powerful one' in Sanskrit.Assuming this pose is called simhasana and it was adored by the yogis.Most of the asanas are targeted to throw out toxins,make your body supple and flexible and treat various ailments and disorders.

Simhasana meaning 'the lion' benefits your face, mouth,jaw, throat, eyes and tongue.

This yoga can treat wrinkles and is an powerful anti ageing yoga.Simhasana restores the muscles and tissue to capture the lost charm and make your face glowing, wrinkle free and radiant beaming with the joy of good health and adds glory to your face!

The stretching and pulling stimulates the nerves, boosts the blood circulation to give your face a glorious look.The gaze practiced in this asana make your eyes big, shiny and bright.

Your voice is improved with this asana.It is very beneficial if you are suffering from back ache.

Simhasana also cures problems like bad breath, grinding teeth and clenched jaws. 

In this yog asana you have to imitate a roaring lion !The entire body or expressions of the face are modified to bring out that powerful, majestic force in you.

>Sit in Vajrasana ( see picture above)

>Raise your buttocks a little and cross the heel and toes of the right leg over the left leg like a scissor

>Sit on the heels and place both hands on the respective knees and spread your fingers.

>Bring out the tongue as much as possible.

>Gaze should be nasal.

>While returning back to the original position, take the tongue in, release the tension,loosen your hands and come back to the original position.

Points To Keep In Mind~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

>The hands on respective knees should remain straight and the chest should be erect.

>At the time of bringing out the tongue, exhale from the mouth with some sound like 'ha'

>After completion of exhalation, maintain the position for few seconds.Practice it again after taking the tongue in.

If u find it uncomfortable to perform this asana on the floor, you can also do it on the sofa or bed.

Simhasana helps keep the platysma firm as we grow older.The platysma when contracted,pulls down the corners of the mouth and wrinkles the skin of the neck. It relieves tension in the chest and face. Relieves a sore throat and other resipiratory ailments, tones and clears the tongue, throat and larynx, improves speech, expands chest and lungs, tones abdominal and pelvic and treats gas, strengthens all joints, tones adrenal and gonads, strengthens back muscles and spine, treats thyroid, reduces fats around the hips and thighs, beneficial in asthama, gastrointestinal disorders of liver, stomach and urinary disorders of urinary bladder, uterus and prostate,arthritis.

Yoga has so many health benefits. I tried it once and couldn't believe how hard it was! Either that or I'm just a weakling lol. I should give it another try. Thanks for the info!
