Look and Feel Younger with an Anti-Aging Diet

Keeping your youth is no longer just a product of age – it’s what you do to preserve it!

You can extend your life and look younger by sticking to an anti-aging diet. Most people want a quick fix in the form of anti-aging skin products, but one of the biggest factors in looking younger is lifestyle and diet!

First off, we need to look at what happens to your body as you begin to age.

Our body contains millions of cells – these cells are in a constant state of flux, both dying and being created. The quality of your cells is directly linked to your diet; to regenerate properly, cells need the proper nutrition. When you’re young, your cells are fine tuned and can regenerate naturally – even if our diet is not very good. However, as your age, cell regeneration doesn’t go ass smoothly. The new cells are weaker than the old cells.

Why are these cells weaker? Free radicals, which are formed from a combination of factors including bad diet, attack the cells and cause lasting damage. As time passes, the damage accumulates and eventually new cells stop regenerating.

However, this process can be reduced and even halted to a great degree by eating special anti-aging foods.

Foods to Avoid When Following an Anti-Aging Diet

The first thing you should do is drastically increase the amount of saturated fats in your diet. The American Heart Association strongly recommends your daily fat intake should not exceed 30% of your total energy requirements. If you want to bring your diet into the anti-aging level, saturated fat should not exceed 10% of your diet! This means you must be very picky about the source of your food – especially protein. You can’t just walk into McDonalds and down a couple burgers! You will have to consume lean meats like fish, turkey breasts, and buffalo instead of beef.

Some experts in fact recommend that you should eschew meat altogether existing on a vegetarian diet. However, this has not yet been scientifically proven – so such a drastic step need not be undertaken. In generally, avoid all fast foods and processed foods, stick to very lean meats, and only consume complex carbs (brown rice, yams, sweet potatoes), and lots of greens.

If you are serious about a nutritious diet, you need to cut out ALL junk food. This includes fast foods, chips, candy, soda (one of the worst offenders of “empty, junk calories”). As mentioned, you need to be choosy with what type of carbohydrates you consume – white rice and pasta, while full of energy, are not really that good for you. It’s better to go with whole wheat.

You should also make an attempt to avoid heavy metals in your diet. This promotes the development of free radicals and thus will contribute to premature aging.

Such an anti-aging diet will not only keep you looking younger, you will shed excess weight and feel and look better.

What is Anti-Aging Food?

There are many vitamins and foods that will help with cell regeneration and thus anti-aging. These substances are very rich in antioxidants and omega 3 fatty acids. Antioxidants are very important in the fight against the aging process because antioxidants bind to free radicals and neutralize them.

These minerals and nutrients that help against anti-aging are Vitamin A, Vitamin B-6, Vitamin B-12, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Folic acid, and Beta Carotene.

Besides these anti-aging vitamins and minerals, there are foods that are rich in antioxidants as well. Raw nuts and seeds, green vegetables (especially leafy ones), seaweed, olive oil, berries, wheat grass, and barely greens are all some of the more well-known ones. Keep in mind that this list is NOT comprehensive.

There has also been a good deal of recent discussion about the Chinese Goji berries and Goji berry juice. You can find these berries only in the Himalaya mountains. Resent studies have shown the natives that consume these berries live extremely long lives while staying healthy. Goji berries have been found to be rich in antioxidants.

Other Factors To Reduce Aging

Now, besides diet, there are other factors that lead to premature aging. Most of these are environmental in nature. To stay younger looking, you should make every effort to get out of these environments. Pollution is a very factor in premature aging. To combat pollution, you need to consume even more antioxidants.

There are many anti-aging products you can consider. These may or may not help – though many people do find some of them very effective. It’s best to treat your fight to look younger as a regimen – this regimen should include anti-aging diet, fitness, use anti-aging skin products such as anti-aging creams and oils, and anti aging vitamins. They key is that you can fight against the aging process if you are willing to put some effort in to it!
