Daily Skin Tips for Anti-Aging
The Way You Look at Growing Older
A well-known fact about growing older is it's not an option. Another well-known fact about growing older is healthy living with proper diet, sleep, and exercise helps maintain the body's strength and vitality. Yet a surprising fact for many about growing older is looking older is optional.
Practicing preventative skin care early on helps to maintain a youthful radiant complexion, while prolonging skin from premature and visible signs of aging. And if you think its to late to start because you already have noticeable wrinkles, age spots, and sagging skin, you will be happy to know you are wrong.
It's never too late to start taking care of your health, and this includes your skin. Adopting a few daily skin care steps will actually diminish the appearance of existing sun damage and wrinkles; improve clarity and texture of skin tone, while slowing down the onset of future skin aging. And the best part anti-aging skin care is it isn't and shouldn't be complicated.
Prepare and Protect: The AM is for getting skin ready to face the day. First step is to cleanse face and neck with a gentle facial wash or cleanser (avoid soap). Next, lightly pat skin dry, do not rub or tug skin. Apply a hydrating moisturizer with antioxidants (i.e. Vitamins C, A and or E) to face and neck. Finish with skin with protection, applying a daily sunscreen (SPF 15 or higher). It is important that all three steps are performed daily before applying make-up.
Refresh and Recharge: The PM is for skin renewal. In order to keep skin functioning and looking more youthful, it is critical to boost cellular turnover (skin cycle) using a product with "active" stimulant that will result in increased collagen (true fountain of youth) production. The results are diminished wrinkles, improved firmness, more even color/tone to the skin, and a healthy youthful glow.
First remove makeup and "daily dust" everyday environmental exposure by applying gentle facial cleanser to face and neck. Spend one full minute massaging cleanser into skin for through cleaning. Rinse and pat dry.
Next, apply topical "active" treatment such as Vitamin A acids (Tazarotene, Tretinoin or Retin -A, Adapelene), Vitamin C and Alpha Hydroxy Acids. Just a note of caution, certain percentages and ingredients are not recommended for sensitive skin with a natural tendency of redness/irritation. For important information on skincare products be sure to read the active ingredients.
The finishing touch is to apply a basic hydrating moisturizer to help sooth and replenish subtleness to your skin.
Performing these simple daily skin care steps will improve overall appearance of facial and neck skin. One final well-known fact about growing older, the way you look at growing older isn't as bad when you don't look older.

- How to Exfoliate Facial Skin
The Importance of Skin ExfoliationSkin exfoliation is an important step in maintaining youthful glowing skin. The exfoliation process improves the appearance of facial skin by removing dead cells on the visible, outer surface. When skin is exfoliated it not only reveals radiant, re-energized underlying skin, it also accelerates the cell renewal that slows with age and adds to skin aging. The rewarded benefits of incorporating routine exfoliation are improvement in skin’s texture, promotes healthy circulation and stimulation, skin appears more radiant, diminishes age spots, sun damage, wrinkles and fine lines, lifts and removes impurities trapped in pores, and prevents acne.Manual and chemical exfoliations are the two main categories of exfoliating.Manual Skin Exfoliation -- refers to any topical applied friction with fingers or applicator. Manual skin exfoliation is most suitable for normal skin types, and red / sensitive skin types should avoid this method.Chemical Exfoliation -- includes the use of creams, lotions and gels with “active ingredients” that react and cause dead cells to loosen and break apart. How often an individual exfoliates is determined by skin type.Normal skin everyday or every other dayOily skin three times per week Sensitive skin once or twice a weekDry skin once a weekIt is important to identify your skin type before exfoliating. See a local aesthetician for professional skin advice for proper skin type and recommendations for the best skincare practices. - 16 months ago
- Fade Today's Age Spots
Lighten and Fade Away Age Spots Age spots, brown spots, freckles, hyperpigmentation, liver spots, sunspots are all words used to describe darker uneven areas of skin tone due to sun exposure, medications, or genetics. These so called age spots (Lentigines are notorious for being spotted as tan, brown, or dark brown on skin frequently exposed to sun such as face, tops of hands, and legs.Age spots are outward collections of skin pigment called melanin, which have collected within the surface layer of skin. Avoiding Age SpotsThe best tip to avoid having age spots is to use daily sunscreen with SPF of 15 or higher, and wear protective clothing and hats when out in the sun for extended periods of time to prevent new discoloration and minimize existing age spots already on your skin from becoming darker and more noticeable.Erase Age SpotsThe least invasive way to treat hyperpigmentation is by bleaching. - Aging Skin Initiation
Facial Rejuvenation Inspired by Visible Skin AgingInitiation into middle age is often a harsh reality. With middle age comes the demise of energy levels, sporadic lapses of memory, deteriorating eyesight, and every woman’s favorite a sluggish metabolism. Along with the body’s metamorphosis come the unsightly and unwelcome signs of facial aging. These dramatic visible changes seen in the mirror inspire the pursuit for facial rejuvenation. As age happens it so happens skin happens to loose elasticity causing it to sink and sag. Age spots and sun damage become noticeable as they begin popping up, along with traces of crinkles and skin wrinkles. Fat pads shift and slide from under the eyes carving a sunken tired impression. Cheeks once full and perky suddenly slide down the face creating deep furrows trailing from the corners of the nose to the mouth (nasolabial folds). The chin grows from one to three and the jaw line becomes the jowl line. The neck develops rings, and the upper lip once plump is now poof gone. - 17 months ago
- Which Ingredients Fade Age Spots
Choosing the Right Skin-Lightening ProductThere are literally thousands of different skin care products available today to fade uneven facial pigment and remove age spots. Choosing the right skin-lightening product does not have to be confusing as long as you know what you are looking for. Here are a few helpful guidelines for selecting age spot removal products. The first thing to recognize is there are many different skin-lightening ingredients available and no one ingredient is best for all skin types.Hydroquinone is perhaps one of the most widely known active ingredients for fading the appearance of facial hyperpigmentation. Hydroquinone is commonly recommended for lighter- fair skin types to lighten the visible sun damage, liver or age spots. Until recently doctors commonly prescribed 4% hydroquinine also called Aclaro to fade age spots and improve even skin tone, however new studies published by the FDA caution using hydroquinone in strengths greater than 2 percent. - 17 months ago

- The Wrinkle Cause
The Trifecta Components of a WrinkleWrinkles are a trifecta of three factors:1. The skin component2. The underlying muscle component3. The subcutaneous fat componentFacial SkinAs facial skin ages, it thins out and becomes dry, fragile, and traced with lines. Oxidation and free radicals from the external environment bombard skin’s collagen molecules causing them to lose their elasticity and become rigid.Collagen is especially vulnerable to aging and environmental damage due to its slow turnover rate. Glycation is a process that occurs when sugar molecules cross-link (bond) with skin's collagen making the collagen more rigid and less elastic. Glycation is directly involved in protein degradation which results in the signs of aging. Facial Muscles Facial muscles are unique as they are the only muscles that attach to bone and skin. All other muscles attach bone to bone, which allows the body movement. Another interesting fact about facial muscles, they are the only muscles that cause wrinkles. - 17 months ago
