Get Cleaned up!

In an on the go world it is is necessary to have protection from germs. With so many types of flu buzzing around it is of up most important to continually wash your hands to keep them germ free.We have so many choices these day from Antibacterial hand sanitizers, to antibacterial wipes and gels. Not only do they come in different forms but different scents as well. Bath and Body works has a nice line of scented antibacterial sanitizers as well as antibacterial soaps.

The convenience of hand sanitizers is almost a necessity.  They can be used any where including grocery store and playgrounds.

Hand Sanitizers must have at Least a 60% Alcohol content to be effective!!! Be Wary of imitation sanitizers.

Make your own Sanitizer

1 cup aloe vera gel

1 tsp rubbing alcohol

2 tsp vegetable glycerin

8-10 drops tea tree essential oil or lavender essential oil

Simply blend all of the ingredients together and store.

Hand Sanitizers are effective as they have increased their presence in public places. You now see hand sanitizer dispensers in patient waiting rooms and supermarkets. But are they effective? The Journal of Emerging Infective diseases found that many of the store brands have less than the 60 percent alcohol content needed in them to kill germs. In 2002 the Center for Disease Control has recommended that health service professionals use High quality alcohol based gels on their hands rather than soap and water. In a study completed by the CDC, it was discovered that the use of hand sanitizers decreased absenteeism at elementary schools, reducing illnesses in college dormitories and decreasing illnesses from gastrointestinal illnesses at home.

Be cautious

be cautious about where you place your hand sanitizers and who has access to them. Good hand sanitizers have 60 percent or more of alcohol in them. Make sure that you so not have a toddler who can reach it and ingest it. Stories circulate that children who inadvertently put their mouths on the bady part that have been sanitized can get drunk. Don't worry when the sanitizer is placed on the skin it is absorbed or evaporates. Also be aware that hand sanitizer is popular in many institutional settings as an alcoholic beverage, due to it's high alcohol content.  Due to it's high alcohol content the sanitizer is also flammable. Please keep a way from heat.

I use hand sanitizers all the time here in Iraq. They are great for killing germs and bacteria.
