Anticipation, Summer movies to look forward too

With the likes of Indiana Jones, Iron man, and Chronicles of Narnia already being released and we haven't even hit June yet, what else could there be left to watch for the coming months? Plenty! In my opinion we have only see the good, and the best are still to come, or at least they have to chance of being the best, only a viewing will tell if Hollywood has managed to again kill some of the best ideas they have ever had.

The Dark Knight

The sequel to the revamp Batman Begins is expected out July 18th and from the two trailers, we can tell this is going to maintain the quality of acting, story telling, and action that Christopher Nolan gave us a glimpse of in the first one. The death of Heath Ledger caused some to fear how this movie might be treated, but Mr. Nolan is a classy guy, showing up to work everyday in a full on business suit, and is not a big fan of CGI and fake things, preferring to show you things that you thought could only be done in a computer lab with months of work. He will not let the tragic death of one of the stars of his movie alter who it will be edited or marketed, and from what i've seen of Mr. Ledger in the past, he would be sourly dissapointed if it was. With Aaron Eckhart playing Harvey Dent, and a much better actress in Maggie Gyllenhaal replacing Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes, along with Gary Oldman returning and Morgan freeman reprising his role, this movie looks to be a simple continuation of the story line and no doubt some trying times for the dark knight of Gotham. (keep an eye out for Batman: Gotham Knight, an animated series of stories that takes place between the two movies.)

Hancock

From the trailers of this new Will Smith movie, I would say that Hollywood has cracked the code to making an 'original' super hero movie. They have quality actors, what appears to be a unique take on a classic storyline, awesome looking action, and hopefully more comedy than just what is shown in the trailers. This is however, to put it blunt, a black superman movie where superman has apparently fallen from grace and is trying to regain his meaning for being on this alien planet. The execution and quality of writing is going to be what makes or breaks this movie... puts it up there with Iron Man or shelves it next to My Super Ex-Girlfriend.

The Incredible Hulk

This is a reloaded, continuation, while forgetting what just happened, sequel, first in a series, Hulk movie. With Eric Bana being replaced by Ed Norton, Jennifer Connolly taken over by Liv Tyler and William Hurt instead of Sam Elliot, it all looks good and well, minus the fact they have Norton co-writing with the same man, Zak Penn, who penned the horrific third x-men, elektra, and inspector gadget, there is a high level of fear in me over just how this might turn out, but marvel has entrusted him with Captain America and The Avengers movies coming out in 2011. The second trailer for this movie shows much more of the action and a more clear picture of just where the story is going to go, but what really gives me hope, comes after all the action, all the love story, all the enemies, but the last 4 or 5 notes of the song at the end of the trailer. A hint of dispair and fear that Bruce Banner is known for having as he is always running and hunting for a cure to his problem. I have no idea how this movie will come out, but I can tell you I'll be getting my ticket on opening night all the same. Hopefully the Hulk himself looks better than he does now...few more touches to be made.

Wanted

This movie scares me because it looks just like the TV series Chuck, except hotter, faster, and 60 minutes longer. This looks like it will be one of those hate or love movies, with a unique style and hopefully not to cheesy of a storyline. I can see that they used a lot of green screen, which is either going to be fixed in the final product, or just be unbelievably crappy and look crappy, cause some of those stunts are just insane and the human body should not beable to do that without wires attached. But i'll save anymore judgement on this movie till June 27th.

Other movies to keep an eye on and possible worth watching:

The Fall, Mongol, Step Brothers, Foot Fist Way, The Love Guru, Zohan, Kung Fu Panda, Hell Boy II, and Wall-E. Some obviously more than others.
