This makes the story a larger and better story because it broadcasts more ideas of the main characters in the outside character opinions. This makes the story come in more depth.
What would the play be like without the chorus? Well the story wouldn't be in as great of depth. The story would have to have more characters. The play would need a character to have the people's opinion come in to the tale. There is also the possibility of not having any people opinion of what is happening and let the reader figure out what their opinion is. This causes little strength in the story and more of a freethinking tale.
What information does the chorus bring to the tale? Well the chorus brings information from the common people to the reader. It brings information on what is happening in the tale. What is the major conflict of Antigone? Well the main conflict is to follow human laws or supernatural laws. Well supernatural laws means to follow what seems to be right. Human laws are more selfish to the point of certain things, like a bad ruling in a courthouse. They might be morally not right for you but might be for someone else, its also it is not right for anyone.
What other important conflicts exist in Antigone? Well there is a conflict if his punishment is to harsh. There is a conflict on who should have the thrown. There is a conflict on how the 2 brothers should fight out the feud. There is a conflict if Antigone or Ismene is right about there reasoning. There is many smaller conflict that make up one major conflict.
How do you think Sophocles want you to feel about these conflicts? He wants you to think of these conflicts as major steps up to the climax of the story. He wants you to think of them as dynamics in the story. He wants you to think that the whole city is a mess.
What are the opinions of government between Creon and Haimon? Well Haimon is more democratic because he thinks law should be made in a parliament and the king should enforce them. Creon thinks that he was picked by the gods to lead Thebes. Haimon thinks that the citizens' thought should count. Creon thought that the citizens' thoughts were just blah blah blah. Haimon thought that if there were no citizens there was no state. Creon thought that he was the state.
If Haimon became king what type of king would he be? Well he would be more democratic. He would like to know the peoples opinion. He would not have made laws. He would enforce laws. He would be a little soft on punishment but still a better king then Creon.
Who do you think Sophocles liked more Haimon's or Creon's Ruling ideas? I think Sophocles liked Haimon opinion because he put more of an argument on his side instead of Creons. This suggests to me that he wanted Haimon to seem the victor.
Who was the person who had the Tragic flaw? Well Creon of course, he has been cursed, has no heir, lost his wife, lost his son, killed his sons bride to be, and left Antigone's brother out to rot. His flaw was to go against what common sense said.
How does the Flaw end up causing his downfall? Well his downfall was because he didn't have common sense. He left Polynecie's body out to rot. This caused Antigone to bury him. This caused her to be sent to death because of his ruling. Then this caused her to die. Then this caused his son to die. Then this caused his wife to kill her self and left a curse on Creon. This is the reason why Creon Had his downfall.

Ismene refuses antigones request to go bury their brother because Ismene is afraid of getting arrested and being sent to death by Creon. Creon made a law that said no one is to bury antigones brother. Thats is why. She later changes her mind but it was too late.
