One of my free online appraisals

Besides my presence here at hubpages, I also conduct free online antiques appraisas. You can find out more about that by clicking here.

Tracey of Michigan asks:I have an antique clock I would like appraised. The label on the back says, "William L. Gilbert CLock Co. Winsted, Conn. U.S.A." Above that is the model of the clock, Laurel No. 3. I have searched the web and found out a great deal about the manufacturer, but no ideas about the age or value of this clock.

AW says: What you have is called a "Gingerbread" clock. Gingerbread being the wooden ornamentation outlining the clock. These were very popular right around the late 1800s.

Yours is from one of many companies that made them in Conn. The label "Laurel no. 3" refers to the model, most likely because of the Laurel wreath style deocration which makes up the ornamentation. They bring a steady $100.00 to $125.00 at auction in good condition which you claim your is.

Thanks for your question.
