My girlfriend will have symptoms that include an elevated heartbeat, heart palpitations, and trouble breathing. The first time she woke up in the middle of the night clutching her chest it scared me a little. I was helpless. It wasn't until after she got it under control that I knew what was going on. She explained to me that other panic and anxiety attack symptoms can be lightheadedness, nausea, dizziness, chills or hot flashes, and feelings of dread and fear.

I've come to learn that other physical indications of an attack include tingling in your hands and feet, nervousness, trembling, and shaking. That is a lot of symptoms that could indicate you are having an anxiety attack.

She says she does not get them very often anymore but she has a few techniques to help deal with them since there are many warning signs that an attack is pending.
