Consumers Vs Business

When dealing with an ecommerce business, ( online ) there are a few things that consumers expect to see happen. Without these things, the business will not profit or grow.

1.) The First of those things is Excellent Customer Service. No consumer is going to purchase parts from an online business that cannot provide a memorable customer service. The business must represent itself in a fashion that gives the consumer a reason to come back.

2) Next is reasonable prices. In an economy that rises and falls the business must set it's prices to a reasonable rate. No one has the money to purchase expensive products. Shipping prices are also categorized in this. No one is going to  pay shipping that is marked several of dollars higher than what they would normally pay.

3) Then there is quality products and services. If the business is not selling quality parts or services, the consumer will not return.  Business gains more income from return consumers than it does one time buyers.

4) And Finally, company policies. The company must provide good policies to stand by that are built around the consumer. No one will return to a business if the policies have driven them away.

A Good Example of Perfect Business Practices

I found through personal experience a perfect example of a business who has set out taking the above mentioned steps. Because of this, I think that they will be the next big titan of business for their market. I have read blog after blog about this business and I am impressed by what they offer. I am writing about ApplianceZone.com. The business started out small in 2008, and was barely a drop on the map. They began building the website on the values I listed above, and now they have almost tripled their business in less than one year. The websites innovative design captures consumer's attentions the moment they enter the site. The customer service is present almost immediately upon opening the page, The products they sell are manufacturer's original and replacement parts. And their policies are built around the consumer's safety. The company's prices are outrageously cheap compared to most of their major competitors, sometimes bordering on a hundred dollars cheaper! Judging from the shipping prices, It would almost be impossible for them to make a profit off the shipping alone.

A Great Example of Bad Business

Extortion. Dishonesty. Slander. Libel. Con Artists. These words all come to my mind when writing about this next company. Although, some people do not necessarily share my views on this particular one. I will let you judge for yourself.

Ed Magedson, CEO of Rip Off Report.com has a website that many people think is "brilliant".

I see things differently. Rip Off Report.com is an internet " blog " site that allows consumers to go on and voice their opinions about a company in question. ( thus the name). Ed claims that he will never remove the comment from the site, but he will allow business whose names have been posted to join is consumer advocate program...for a fee. Each comment is given tags and meta tags that cause rip off report to pop up anytime you do a search for a company. Normally, I would think that this is a great idea, however, there is no research done into the claims of the consumers, and if someone was to post libel ( and they have many times ) there is no way for the company to correct it. OR is there? It is rumored that companies who agree to pay Ed thousands of dollars can have the comments removed. But what about individuals like doctors, teachers, or home business that cannot afford these charges? well then they can pay less to join the consumer advocate program that allows the businesses to " address" the issues. In my opinion, this is bad business. And apparent, those behind the hundreds of lawsuits pending against the company believe so as well. What do you think?
