Choosing the Right Credit Card for Your Business
I advise all of my clients to sit down with good old pen and paper and write out exactly what it is that they are looking for from a business credit card offer. By taking the time to do this simple exercise you will be better prepared in identifying which features and benefits are best suited to meet your financial needs.
Then, with your list in hand, consult a trusted credit card comparison web site that not only offers unbiased reviews of the offers but also allows side by side comparisons. Many credit cards now offer Introductory offers such as 0% APR on balance transfers and/or new purchases.
These intoductory offers can be quite valuable but be absoluely sure that you understand the terms that accompany them. It is important that you know how long the intro period is for and what the effective interest rate will be when it expires. I'm afraid that far too many people get caught paying a high APR when the introductory offer expires.
Other important aspects to consider include:
- Business Credit Lines
- Rewards Programs
- Additional Cards for Employees
- Discounts for Using the Card
- Credit Limits
- Ability to Access Account Information 24/7
- Fraud and Theft Protection
- Cash Back Rewards
- Frequent Flyer Programs
- Annual Fees
These are just a few of the things that you will want to examine closely. If your business carries a monthly balance then closely examine the APR of every offer that interests you. There are a great many banks and credit card issuers that offer business credit cards so be sure to do your homework thoroughly before you apply.
