The most important part of applying eye makeup is choosing quality products. I highly recommend MAC eye shadow. Their paint pots of eye shadow are BY FAR the BEST quality available. Almost ALL professional makeup artists use MAC eye makeup exclusively.

MAC can be expensive, which is why I recommend bying it from eBay. (NEVER buy used eye makeup, because it might be contaminated and could give you a nasty eye infection.) But buying new, sealed eye makeup online can really save you a lot of money.

If you can't buy MAC, PLEASE buy the best quality you CAN afford. I highly recommend you purchase wet shadow rather than powder. Powder shadow doesn't blend well and tends to come off quickly.

Here are my beginning tips for applying eye makeup.

1. Apply a primer like UDPP (Urban Decay Primer Potion) first. If you don't have primer, use a light layer of concealer.
2. Use a good quality wet eye shadow, not powder.
3. Use brushes to apply eye makeup, NOT those little sponge applicators! The sponges don't blend well, harbor bacteria, and do a poor job of applying the makeup.

Here are my favorite eye makeup products:

3. CoverGirl LashBlast Mascara (THE BEST!)
4. Sonia Kashuk Brushes (available at Target)

I've tried other brands of eye shadow and mascara, but I've found that none come CLOSE to the quality of MAC eye shadow and LashBlast mascara. You can use your favorites, but I've just found that these work best for me.

Use quality brushes to apply your makeup. Those cheap $3 brushes aren't going to last long, and they're not going to do a good job of blending your makeup. I recommend MAC brushes, but they're incredibly expensive. You can get a good set of brushes from Sonia Kashuk at Target for about $20!
