Spin Master Recalls Aqua Dots

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission in conjunction with Spin Maser, (A China based toy manufacturing company) announced today that there is now a voluntary recall on all Aqua Dots products. It suggests that children should stop using them immediately.

It is estimated that there are about 4.2 millions Aqua Dot products that have now been sold or are currently in stores. The manufacturer started selling the Aqua Dot line of products in April 2007. They can be found in almost any major toy store or mass merchandiser nationwide.

What Is An Aqua Dot

Aqua Dots are are a small craft product that is composed of a small bead like object that can be melted together with water. When these colorful little beads are all melted together they can be formed into all kinds of unique and fun shapes. It is a lot of fun for kids and the small ones just love the tactile experience of making something 3 dimensional or even 2 dimensional

Why The Aqua Dot Recall You Ask?

The CPSC received two reports in the last few days in which a child has swallowed a large amount of the Aqua dots product and then quickly became comatose and started to have seizures. In both cases the children were hospitalized for five days or more and then were released. Both of the children are now in perfect health but this has lead the CPSC to issue the recall. It seems that there is a chemical in the coating of the beads that is harmful when swallowed.

The Remedy For Aqua Dots

The CPSC recommends that the product should immediately be taken away from the child and then send to the toy manufacture for replacement beads to be sent or another toy of equal value.

For additional information please contact Spin Master at (800) 622-8339 between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's Web site at www.aquadotsrecall.com.

Hey Taylorblue-

Glad you enjoyed! I almost bought these for my son a month or so ago so I thought this would be useful information.

I've got about 60 of them (the little beads, not 60 kits) sitting on my desk here. One of my daughters had them in her room.

What's the going street value for a dot? LOL.

Hey There Darkside...

Not really sure what the street value is for them. It seems they contain a chemical very similar to GBH which is a street drug used in the clubbing scene so you might be able to get a decent amount if you can get the right connection. I can see it now the price of Aqua Dots rises and they go on the black market to be smuggled by drag trafficers!! To funny and a little sad!

Whoever is writing this information really really needs to do spell check! When words are spelled incorrectly it really looks unprofessional. There are MANY misspelled words in this.

Stacy-

Thanks for the feedback you are right I forgot to spell check the article. I often write really fast and even use Dragon Naturally Speaking to dictate my articles through. To make a long story short thanks for the feeback and the corrections have been made.

To the great tattoosnow dude just in case you were wondering it GHB not GBH it is known as a date rape drug. It makes you pass out very quick and you stay that way until the drug wears off in about 10 or so hours. It really depends on how much you consume.. THANX
