Arctic Cat History

One of the most recognized and well liked manufacturers of snowmobiles is Arctic Cat. A snowmobile is a small vehicle used for snow traveling. In 1954, the owners of Heeten Hoist and Derrick Shop (David Johnson, Edgar Heeten and Allan Heeten) decided to design and build a machine that could be used to travel during the snow season.

Not long after, their company was renamed Polaris Industries. Four years later, Edgar Heeten started to build his own company which he called Polaris Manufacturing, which was located in Thief River Falls. Later on the company was once again renamed Arctic Enterprises.

That same year, Arctic Enterprises began building Arctic Cat snowmobiles. 21 years after, the company went bankrupt and the production of Arctic Cats snowmobile came to an end. Three years later, in 1984, Arctco Company was built and continued manufacturing the Arctic Cat snowmobiles. Arctco Company’s name was changed to Arctic Cat in 1996.

Most Popular Collection

The most recognized collection of Arctic Cat was the ZR snowmobiles series. This constitutes seven ZR snowmobiles. Another celebrated Arctic Cat snowmobile is the Lake Racer. The Thundercat is another well recognized Arctic Cat; it was especially popular in the 1990’s. In fact, this type of Arctic Cat is considered as the most powerful stock snowmobile in its generation.

Through the years, the production of different Arctic Cat series and collections have improved tremendously in both quality and designed.

Used Snowmobiles

Brand new Arctic Cat snowmobiles can be quite pricey. If you’re a buyer on a tight budget then you may want to consider buying Arctic Cat’s used snowmobiles. If you’re a wise shopper you’d know that you’ll have a lot more advantages in buying used snowmobiles than brand new snow vehicles. Here are some tips for you to follow in purchasing your used snowmobiles:

1. Stick to your budget. When canvassing for used snowmobiles start looking for the snow vehicle that’s within your budget. If your budget can allow you to purchase a slightly used, almost new snowmobile then all the better. Otherwise, make sure to compare and weigh the advantages and disadvantages of the used snowmobiles before purchasing. Search for different snowmobile stores and make it a point to visit many stores so you can differentiate the prices of the snowmobiles.

2. As much as possible, buy a used snowmobile that has a warranty for a guarantee and good buy. A used snowmobile with a guarantee can be harder to look for as opposed to used snowmobiles with no warranty, but it may be worth the effort.

3. Search through the classified ads and on the internet. Another great idea is to place your own ad saying that you’re looking for used snowmobile sellers that can offer you a vehicle within your price range.

4. Look for forums and threads in the internet that focus on snowmobiles. For sure there are suggestions and recommendations of stores and individuals that sell used snowmobile.
