Are Leaders Readers? There are conflicting thoughts on this statement; however, if you listen or talk to any number of successful people, you will find that they all make reading a part of their day. I can hear it now. "I don't have time to read". " I don't like reading" .

Too many people place a high value on TV. Though many of us think we are learning a lot from what we see, to include commercials; however, the television is NOT putting us on the road to success. Television actually acts as a depressant and we never even realize it, but it happens.

We flip on the TV, plug into our favorite talk shows. What are they talking about? Normally it's someone's misfortune, drama or trauma. We watch our soap operas or movies lamenting someone's tragedy. 5:00 o'clock rolls around and we have to watch the news so that we know what's going on in the world. How many uplifting stories were reported? I don't consider a low pollen count for today, an uplifting story, but that may be the only positive thing we hear. We flip the channel to our favorite reality show and watch people exploit themselves for money and or fame. Then there is the last newscast before we trudge off to bed.

Does anything good come from television? Yes, but very little in comparison to the pollution we just exposed ourselves to. Whether we realize it or not, almost every minute we spend in front of the television, we are feeding our brains negative thoughts.

Abraham Lincoln used to walk miles to obtain books. He read them by candlelight after working long, hard days. Do you think his reverence and devotion to books made a difference in his ability as a leader of our troubled nation? Review any biography and you’ll discover that leaders make it a point to read on a regular basis, rely on reading as a major key to expanding their knowledge base, and enthusiastically encourage those around them to do the same.

It's worth noting that the leaders in most MLM businesses spend a lot of their time year after year, increasing their skills. It's no accident that they are at the top. So many say "You become what you think about." Reading business books (or books on any topic that interests you), will focus your mind. Letting your mind drift without direction will produce no results.

Making a commitment to read just 10-15 pages of a good book daily, WILL change your subconscious thoughts and at the end of a year's time, you will have read 20-30 books. In addition, making that seemingly small commitment will change your life and GROW your business. So start today.

Here is just a small list of books that will help put you on the road to success, self-development, personal empowerment and WILL build your business, making you the LEADER that you desire to be. Many are downloadable Free eBooks by going to www.directorytoday.com/reading

"Success in 10 Steps" Michael Dlouhy (Ebook)

"Think and Grow Rich" Napoleon Hill (Ebook)

"The Slight Edge" Jeff Olsen (Ebay, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, used book stores, etc)

"Acres of Diamonds" Dr. Russell Conwell (Ebook)

"Betting on Yourself" Dr. Robert Anthony (Ebook)

"The Strangest Secret" Earl Nightingale (Ebook)

"Spiritual Marketing" Dr. Joe Vitale (Ebook)

I do not recommend downloading them all at one time, so bookmark the page and return when you are ready to grow your mind and your business.

“You are the same today that you are going to be in five years from now except for two things: the people with whom you associate and the books you read.”

Charles Jones

"Lord!" he said, "when you sell a man a book you don't sell him just twelve ounces of paper and ink and glue – you sell him a whole new life. Love and friendship and humour and ships at sea by night – there's all heaven and earth in a book, a real book I mean."

— Christopher Morley, "Parnassus on Wheels"
