Are Thoughts Real?
64
Buddha said, " We are formed and molded by our thoughts. Those whose minds are formed by selfless thoughts give joy when they speak or act. Joy follows them like a shadow that never leaves them."
How could our thoughts mold or form us, if they were not real? Thoughts must be real. Just look around your house, and you will see everyday examples of some one's thoughts. As a matter of fact, you are reading my thoughts, right now!
Did you know, that the internal thought pathways of your brain are capable of producing, is one followed by seven million miles of typed zeros? Our brain's are capable of having more ideas than there are atoms in the known universe. All of our brain's thinking is achieved by electricity and chemicals.
Matter is the formless substratum of all things which exists only potentially and upon which form acts to produce realities. According to this definition, our thoughts do contain matter. Because again, our brain, achieves thought by a process, using electricity and chemicals. Our thoughts, then become pictures in our mind. We take those pictures, and form things, i.e: language, music, art, cities and machines, to name a few.
Our thoughts are an amazing and powerful force, that separate us from all other living things on Earth. Without thought, we would be unable to contemplate the role our lives play. We would be unable, to create or communicate. We would undoubtedly, still be grunting to our wives or husbands while residing in caves.
