Are Vitamins Really Helpful?

Everyday after brushing our teeth Mom would call my sister and I into the bathroom to give us our "Flinstone Vitamins", you know which ones I'm talking about. The red, orange, purple shapes of Fred & Dino, etc. that make you think you are the strongest person ever? Not knowing later on at school some kid is going to try and prove you wrong, or you just couldn't quite run Superman fast to dodge that ball making a B-Line for your noggin.

My point is this, people are looking for the extra boost or help the healthy way, or at least they think it's healthy, through a vitamin. I was one of those people who took vitamins, especially potassium to help my varicoss (spider) viens because I come from a line of women with not so strong blood cirrculation in our legs. After visiting the doctor for allergies two years ago he asked, like all doctors do, if I'm taking any medicine's, vitamins, etc. I had told him yes, I'm taking potassium to help with my legs, he goes, that's good however, too much can hurt you more then help. So he recommended me to quit using them including any other vitamin until I speak with him first. Sounded good to me.

I've had a few conversations with several people regarding vitamins and was told so many different things that I was either going to have scream at them or PROVE to them vitamins aren't doing sqwat!

This afternoon I was speaking with my significant other who mentioned to me that he was going to purchase vitamins and then provides me a link why he's going to get them. The link was provided after I told him not to waste his money and that he's healthy and eats good and all he was going to do is pass those vitamins through -and I appologize for this - his urine. So I provided him with a link from WebMD (love that site) showing a clip of a Dr. explaining in detail why we shouldn't take vitamins and what we should take a certain ages.

She explained each vitamin that is commonly used by people. What the vitamin helped and the a percentage for increase death. Now, let me state this, the link provided to me by my S.O. also stated the same thing but it was a study done in England were the vitamins were given to just over 230K people and then percentages were given providing the death increase percentage. Then again with half the amount of people.

So, do you believe these vitamins are on the market to help or to destroy us. I'll just stick to my green and chai teas, they seem to be doing just fine with my health.

Below I've provided some the links I spoke of above.
