John Chapter 9

Verse 1-4 King James Version

V-1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.

Jesus was passing by saw a man who did not know him, who was physically blind and decided to help him. Grace and Mercy in action.

V-2 And his disciples asked him saying, Master, who sin, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?

V-3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

V-4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

In the beginning of this chapter, the Bible starts out telling us about how Jesus had healed a blind man. I then ask the Lord for a clearer definition of what the word blind means. God then told me that at this present time, that there was an epidemic of spiritual blindness. What do you mean Lord an “epidemic?” Then the Lord explains, “The word epidemic means an outbreak of a disease that spreads more quickly and more extensively among a group of people than would normally be expected.” Then the Lord reminded me that one of the definition of the word “disease” means, to have a poor condition of living.

Spiritual blindness is spreading more quickly and more extensively among the people of the United States in the last 20 years. People are doing stronger mind altering drugs, there are more and more divorce, more mama drama, babies born out of wed lock have increased, and this disease is causing many, to have a poor condition of living.

God also show me that an epidemic also means civil unrest and rioting. Civil meaning social unrest, look at what happen in the news in Florida, people shoving and pushing old women and young children not caring who they could physically impaired for life, they are blind, spiritually blind. I then began to look at life today as we know it, and with the crime rate the way it is, I was able to see the unrest and rioting I would have never been able to relay all of this to spiritual blindness.

I also learn that blindness means, lack of vision. The Bible has much to say about vision.

Proverbs 29:18

Where there is no vision, the people perish……

Most of the time when this scripture is used, it is used by churches, pastors, who are trying to raise money for their building fund. And the vision is focus on what they perceive that God wants them to do. But they fail to see that only the lost, are the ones that do not have a vision, why? That is because they are perishing. They are spiritually blind, they are blind because they are dead in sin and trespasses, they are separated from God, dead people can not see.

The vision is Christ, and not their building fund or their goals for their ministries. If Christ is not seen then people will die in their sins. The only one’s who are perishing, will be those who do not or have not seen Jesus or had a vision of Jesus. They are not perishing because they are not giving to your building fund or that they do not see what you are doing for the Lord. They are perishing because they do not see Jesus period.

The first vision the church should see is Jesus Christ. Why do we relate everything spiritual to things like houses, money, and cars, when we know that only what you do for Christ will last? I have seen so many ministries fall in my life, when the pastors stop seeing the vision of Jesus; they end up in gross sin. I not going to give any names, but their mega ministries were over in a blink of an eye, all because they stop seeing Jesus in what they were doing lack of vision.

The second vision is that we should have is in obtaining more of Christ in our lives. Our only vision, should be desire to conform to the image of Christ. What compels us into religious activity is not always the Holy Spirit. But most of the time it is the wind of doctrine from man-made tradition that motivates us. Our energies should not be too absorbed more with a particular doctrine than with attaining the character of Christ. If you are not trying to obtain the character of Christ than you are blind and you will perish because of you

The third vision is that we should have a desire in seeing to, that our love ones are saved. Seeing that the people on our jobs are saved, and not complaining about how they are a problem. The people in our neighborhoods, we should be praying that they will get the vision. The vision is not fulfilled by the giving of your money to send some one over seas to build a church, or to send some one around the world. The vision is to pray and to see in the future that person accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior. If the people we are sending over seas do not have a vision of Jesus, that Jesus is Lord, then the people that they think that they are winning to the Lord, will not see Jesus and they will stay blind all their lives and then perish.

Most pastors, and it is a said thing, will teach this scripture only when they want money that the people are lacking vision. It is true that the leaders in these churches do have significant impact on the growth, and effectiveness of your church and Sunday school. A leader's vision is powerful, and a lack of vision is perilous. Proverbs 29:18 says, "Where there is no vision, the people perish." They have no vision, so they give you their vision, but I am here to tell you that the meaning of this scripture is a whole lot deeper than that.

Blindness is the lack of vision; blindness represents men and women who walk in ignorance and misery.

Psalm 146: 8 King James Version

v-8 The Lord, openeth the eyes of the blind: The Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous

The man was born blind from birth, when a person is born blind form birth then they usually there is a developmental damage due to congenital infection (STD) birth injury or a genetically determines disease that can affect the eye or the visual pathways. Children are sometimes born with drug problems that came, because of the parent usage while the child was still in the womb. So the question that the disciples asked Jesus was not unreasonable.

Isaiah 29:18 King James Version

V-18 And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the brook, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.

Isaiah 42:18-19 King James Version

V-18 And in that day shall the deaf hear the words of the brook, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and our of darkness.

V-19 Who is blind, but my servant? Or deaf, as my messenger that I sent? Who is blind as he that is perfect and blind as the Lords servant?

Note that God wants us to discern what He is doing, and then let Him work through us. Note that I use the word discern. Don’t ask Him to bless your building fund and your efforts if they were not His ideals. Ask Him to bless His efforts in you.

This man had been blind his whole life in those days there were no help from any doctors, all he could do was beg. There was no hope for his condition, for his poor condition of living. And there is no hope or doctor that can help a person who is spiritually blind who has no vision. But the Bible shows us that Jesus was there for him. Jesus was there for him, and he didn’t even known Jesus or had ever seen Jesus, yet Jesus was there for him.

The disciples who were students of Jesus ask Jesus this question who sin? Was it his mother or was it his father, maybe he did something to cause this to come upon himself. But Jesus just answers them, and let them know that it was no one fault, God wanted them to see, and God wanted their eye to be open so God created Him to be blind so that they could see God too. He has to be blind in order for them to see. Not just the man had a seeing problem, but the disciples, and the Pharisee had problems with their vision as well. God would use this man and his situation to be able to get others to see God’s miraculous power. They would not be able to see God, if this man had not been born blind. God wanted to demonstrate His power in this mans life by giving him a vision. Or his vision. God want us to see what happen to a man or woman when they accept him and when He gives them a vision of himself, they see, they see him.

I once was blind, I once was in sin, it took a while but God brought me out. I often tell people I don’t go to church because I am perfect, or because I know it all. I go because I need help. There are still some areas in my life that I am blind to. I go because I want to see, I want to discern, I want to grow in the Lord Jesus. This is why I put this web sight together. To tell you how Jesus has open my eyes to be able to see that I am not all that.

He wants to open your eyes too, so you will see, and not perish. Just ask Him, Jesus please comes into my life. And he will. You’ll see

Thank you
