Are We Here to Write or Make Money?

I came to HubPages to further my writing skills, but the more I look around, it seems that many are concerned with "content," how much it matters to our Adsense account, and how much money we're making. Is this a writing site, a money-making site, or both?
Don't get me wrong, I thoroughly enjoy the site and the content posted here. There is much lively banter and intellectual discourse, as well as downright silliness. However, it has left me with many questions as well.
So by and large, are Hubbers here to make money, to write, or both? Most importantly, I think we are all here to write, as that is what has brought us together.
What is your predominant driving force for writing on HubPages?

I'm here to write, but if others want to make money, it's okay with me.
If I were here solely for money, I'd be better off selling pencils at the nearest intersection. LOL Someday I'll see that first check from adsense and it'll be nice. In the meantime, I'm getting to know some really great people and learning new and different things.

Writing for HubPages is having a good effect on me in other ways. For a long time I have had in my files notes to be used in some books or collections of short articles that I wanted to write. Since I've been creating hubs, I've noticed that my "writing energy" has picked up, with a spillover effect. Now I'm starting to take some of those files and do more with them. I get energized by reading others' writings and by reading their comments on others' hubs.
I have no dreams of becoming rich on HubPages, although if a check ever shows up, I will deposit it in a heartbeat.

I think that writing (venting) is what drew me to the Hub. It get boring talking to yourself all day =D

To be honest I'm here to make money and build backlinks to my blog.
I just like to write something that's not hard-core technical, which is what I do all day for a living.

I truly came here to write. I have so many thoughts in my head and it's nice to get it out where people can read it. I am happy about the adsense thing but it's not the main reason I'm here.
