There is so much more to a cup of Joe than loading it full of cream and sugar, so are you drinking your coffee the right way? I have for you some incredible tips on all of the steps that you need for the finest Java available to man from start to finish. Ready?

The first thing that you need to think about as a lover of coffee who wants a delicious brew is to purchase whole beans directly from the roaster. Think about the fact that the majority of store-bought coffee is sitting on the shelves for months at a time going stale as we speak. Horrifying! By the time you actually purchase a bag of a store-bought roast, it may have been eight weeks or longer since it was actually roasted, which is far from fresh. If you happen to be purchasing a pre-ground variety, then that can go in stale within just a few hours, so it is imperative that you are grinding your coffee directly before brewing. You can invest in a high quality grinder, preferably a conical burr grinder which works at low RPMs to reduce the heat of the coffee during grinding so that the flavor does not taste burned as a result. Even if you do purchase a cheaper coffee grinder for your home use, you are still so much better off than buying it pre-ground. Like I said, the beans will begin to go stale within a few hours of grinding, so this is the only way for a truly fresh cup of Joe.

This may be a step that is often overlooked, but it is so important to use filtered water in your coffee maker. If you generally drink filtered or bottled water yourself, then it makes absolutely no sense to brew your coffee with tap water that has minerals or even sulfur in it. This also does contribute to the demise of your coffee machine by clogging the elements, causing the need for it to be descaled more often. If you want to preserve both your coffee maker and your taste buds, then opt for filtered water for your coffee maker.

Lastly, do not let your coffee set out for long periods of time because it will lose its flavor and quality right away. Basically, you have a half hour window available to you to consume your brew for the freshest taste. If you start to smell those coffee aromas wafting from your hot cup of Joe, then that is exactly when it needs to be sipped because it is beginning to lose its aromas and flavors right then and there.

With these simple steps, I know that you will find the best way to enjoy your cup of Joe on a daily basis. I think that you will be surprised at how easily it is to tweak your coffee drinking habits for a much better result. So where are you lacking? Take a little inventory of your coffee brewing methods and see what you can do to improve for a much better taste!
