Are You In Line For A Miracle?
65Not So Obvious
When you have time on your hand and like to write, what do you do? Reach for paper and a writing instrument. Or, you can head straight for the word processor and peel off your fleeting thoughts . Writing can be a zephyr on a humid day, especially if you stumble across a miracle. As you know, miracles are supernatural events. Some people label them as a part of Christian living and place them neatly in a religious box. Not me. The miracles that happen seem like ordinary daily events until you evaluate them.
While sorting through some printouts, I came across the story of a girl who resembles a mermaid because her lower limbs have been fused together; and she is missing some organs most people take for granted- like a rectum. Of course she was not expected to live beyond childhood; but she is now ten years old. Imagine a ten year old who will never walk unless science technology finds a way. But who needs to walk? I read about a young girl without arms and legs who danced at Julliard's in New York. She could not hear my applaud; but it is thunderous! I do not pity anyone who has the courage to dare to be different in spite of the adversities and vicissitudes of life.
The collection of printouts revealed a wrestler whose parents were told of his limitations. he would never play sports. Who said that he could not excel at wrestling and academics? According to the article, he has won most of his wrestling matches; and he has maintained a 4.00 GPA! Do you know how many students with no limitations are struggling to maintain a 1.00 GPA?
Do Miracles Wear Question Marks?
Of course sometimes there are news stories with a question mark. Have you ever received an email that seemed too good to be true? Someone sent me one about a woman who was killed for her Christian beliefs. According to the story, her children including her baby was buried with her. They managed to stay alive until another relative died fifteen days later and was buried in the same grave. The eldest child said that they were cared for by a man with a nail print in his hand. Many questions have been raised about this story.
While I was researching this story, I found a website that dealt strictly with miracles. The most absurd one was about a man who was killed in a traffic accident, embalmed and taken to a church where a well-known pastor was holding a service. The renown pastor did not know about the dead man whom the wife insisted should be taken to the church. Well, the resolution of the story is that a man came back to life after being dead for more than a day. The person , a pastor, who was resurrected has been interviewed.
Stories
of far away may not ring true; but those who have experienced a miracle
in their area or life are not so skeptical. In South Andros Bahamas, a
crab catching experience stretched into a miracle thirty three days for
two brothers, the eldest one ten years old. .Most people return from
catching crabs the same day. In this situation, helicopters, teams of
residents and even police officers with dogs searched for the boys. A
prayer vigil was said; and few expected them to emerge from the forest.
But they did; and what a story they offered to their parents and the
eager public! The Twilight Zone and Harry Potter are light when one
hears their story of survival.Reporters have tried to capture the
essence of their experience. They were hospitalized for two months; and
many eager Bahamians are waiting for the sequel to their true tale!
Expect A Miracle
One four year old, Juliece, never ceases to demonstrate that she is a miracle. Barely one pound at birth, doctors informed her parents of limitations that would impact her life. Anyone who observes Juliece on a tricycle would wonder how a girl labeled as 'blind' is able to 'see'. Juliece began the 2009-2010 academic year one year behind her twin Shaniece; but she has closed that gap in less than six weeks. At first, Juliece began to amaze the entire school by being able to find her way to the rest room - without any assistance. Then she left her Pre-School teacher gaping in awe. The teacher asked the pre-schoolers to clean their desk. At first Juliece did nothing. Then, recently, she did check, looking inside her desk.
"Teacher", she said, " my desk is empty."
The teacher almost fainted! How would a girl who is said to be blind know that a desk is empty by looking and not feeling around in it? The teacher revealed that she held up the letter H and Juliece called out the answer before the other children! How did she see that letter? Who told her that it was the letter H? True, she may have ESP; but is there a possibility that she can see better than most people believe or suspect?
Juliece, a gifted leader, knows her way around the classroom and has a low tolerance for misconduct among her peers. Now, after observing Juliece for several weeks, the Pre-School teacher believes that Juliece has vision. She can see! However, her vision has to be re-evaluated.
The inauguration of President Barack Obama in early January 2009 heralded a new era for Americans everywhere as well as foreigners. Some people looked at the fact that he is the first black President and favoured Abraham Lincoln as a role model. Research I have done on Abraham Lincoln has left questions. Was Lincoln's mother the child of a slave - a light skin black rather than a white slave? Some accounts questioned whether Abe was a Lincoln or some other surname.
The point is not the background, though some highlight that fact, but the future Abraham Lincoln who carved a niche of success from a log cabin to the presidency ... for himself and posterity. Henry W. Longfellow in Psalm of Life revealed that footprints in the sands of time would guide and give others the courage to go on in spite of the vicissitudes of life. The newly elected American President can be viewed as a Moses who is expected to part the sea of unemployment and restore jobs while reviving the economy during a global recession. He has provided opportunities for mothers to return to school and upgrade their education. Those children and youth who attend school presently may face a longer school day and hopefully educational benefits. President Obama is faced with bringing peace - an end to the war in Iraq, an adequate health program, hope to a nation and more. For President Barack Obama and all who voted for him, reaching the high office of President of the United States is a miracle, one for which he is worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize.
Two Unforgettable Miracles
Many people have called miracles 'coincidence' or even a 'fluke'. Are you guilty? You cannot look a gift horse in the mouth! Often some events are too good to be true; but that does not change the reality of the situation. Take low connectivity. That means you most likely will not be able to access the internet. Everything points to not being able to get online - except a miracle. You cannot be moved by what you see. It happened to me! On Sunday 11 October 2009 I tried to access the internet and a balloon informed me of low connectivity. The computer icon sandwiched between Copernic Desktop and Lexmark Imaging Studio had a yellow triangle with a black exclamation mark.I clicked on the icon. The Send was at 35 and Receive at zero. Running the Internet Explorer Diagnostic did not help, nor did Repair. I had an IP Address; but I was missing the Gateway, DNS Server and WMI.After trying too correct the problem - checking the cables, using rubber bands, paper clips and tape, I saw a light of hope. Do you believe in technician angels? Well, I talked to the Master and asked for His will. I knew the odds; but faith overrides them. Some call faith blind. Justice is said to be blind too!
When the Send reached 305 I saw the lights blinking fast. At 12:36 p.m. when Send was 306 and Receive was 0, I went online long enough to check one email from Hubpages. The email told me that there was a comment on Seven Reasons To Celebrate Life. What a message! It cheered my heart and provided hope during a dreary time. Yes, it was the will of God to continue at Hub Pages. One person had been blessed; and that is enough for me! But, being online was ephemeral. I was about to approve the comment when I lost the cursor and the connection.I had to restore my system about five times before the cursor appeared and worked.
On Tuesday 13 October 2009, I returned to home base and discovered a bird in my classroom. I raced for my camera. This bird probably mistook me for paparazzi! It forced me to make three laps around the room in order to get a few photos! During my youth I considered photojournalism; and the desire has not left me.After the bird left, I noticed the blue cable with a telephone plug. I cleared it and plugged it into the tower with the hard drive. Eureka! It worked!
Now, I asked myself, if the blue cable was in plain view all the time, why did I not see it? I had walked over to the desk with the computer so many times and checked the plugs, unplugged the computer system and had done everything reasonable to find the server, which the computer claimed was missing as it could not be found! Right away, I realized that my experiences bordered on the miraculous. Yes, they were miracles, supernatural experiences! Immediately, a spark flickered in my mind. Do you line up for miracles and have to wait your turn?
Isn't that a ridiculous question?Miracles abound. They are right around you and me; but we have to pause for a moment, open our eyes and see them! When I began this spontaneous hub, I decided to let it flow freely. Instead of writing in the Christian Living category, I would write creatively.
Are you next in line for a miracle? How do you answer? Does salubrious mean anything to you? What about wealth? Do you long for peace of mind and contentment? Where will you find them? I know where to look. Every time I pass the stretch of beach on the way to work, breathe in fresh air, eat a sugar apple[chimoya] or simple fare of corn, rice and tuna patties, I stand tall, thankful and proud ; then I wait in line for the next miracle!
After I prayed I saw the light blinking; and it got faster. i was connecting! When Send was at 305 and receive at 0, I connected to the internet! It was 12:36 p.m. by the computer clock. I went to check my email. The envelope icon opened and closed quickly. No problem. I did not even sign in. Now, that's service! I checked the HubPage message. Someone had left a comment at Seven ReasonsTo Celebrate Life.My heart raced with excitement. The comment lifted my spirit. Just as I clicked Approved, I lost the cursor and the connection. Ignorance provides a setback. Using F1 did not help; and i did not know any other options. I shut down.In ordewr to find the cursor I had to restore the system.Even then, the cursor appeared but did not work; so I had to use Rstore several times.
