Are You Safe?

Today I had a friend try to call the local Police department. It took them three phone calls to actually get them to pick up! And it was not because the line was busy. Luckily it was not an emergency. She was just trying to get ahold of her probation officer. I had got to thinking what if someone tried breaking into her house?

With this in my mind it really made me very upset. Police are to "Protect and Serve". If we had 911 service in our area it would not have made me so angry. But we have to type in all the digits on our keypad phones. I thought 911 had to be integrated even into small towns? Maybe I am just over reacting a little bit. But when they do not pick up it could be matter of life and death. I was thinking is this another "Please hold a minute" incident like on the news a few weeks back.

I guess it is just something for us all to think about. Are the people we really count on for protection really there to help us at all? I know from the experience from today I would say not! If you want maximum protection start carrying a gun so at-least you know you can fend yourself!
