Are You Uncertain about Your Retirement Years?
63Is Social Security what you Plan to Retire on?
The golden years are coming and you want to take full advantage of them, but will you have enough to retire? You have been thinking about traveling to exotic places and just seeing the countryside at a relaxed pace. Maybe you have dreamed of sitting on your back porch and just reading the newspaper or a book when you want to and you never had time to do that while you were working.
The biggest problem is the uncertainty. Will you be able to afford travel? Will you still have your home and that nice back porch? What you are really concerned about is, will my retirement years will be a constant fight to survive? Will I have to find a job and continue working to make it?
But I’ve got a retirement plan
Will my retirement plan have any money, with the stock market plummeting and interest rates low? Can we depend on our retirement plans for a comfortable retirement with a lifestyle similar to the one we had while we were working? According to most retirement calculators you will need about $600,000 in your retirement account for every $30,000 you earn now. This does not take into account inflation as you age so you might want to increase this by as much as double if you plan to retire at 65 and live until age 95. If this number sounds impossible, read on, there may be other options.
I’ll use my social security benefits
Will social security be viable long enough to get me through my retirement years and is this enough for a decent lifestyle anyway? Social security will be bankrupt by 2041 or sooner, maybe by 2017 unless changes are made. Can we trust our legislators to make the proper moves? And even if they do, do we want to live on social security? It doesn't sound like the kind of lifestyle I want, I know that.
One of the big problems seniors face is healthcare expenses, especially as they rise. Will my health insurance and/or Medicare be able to keep health issues from ruining me financially? Again, our legislators are using this as a political issue and not doing anything about it. It may be best not to depend on Medicare either. Add a little more to that retirement account.
OK, how do I supplement my income?
Is there some way to supplement my income and take away this nagging uncertainty? My suggestion would be an internet home-based business. With the ability to use the internet to attract clients, this can be a lucrative business with low startup costs. It can work well to supplement an existing income or to replace an income entirely. You probably already have the skills required for starting and running an internet business, but if you are a novice computer user, they are easily acquired with inexpensive on-line help.
If your retirement account has significantly less than the numbers listed above and you are discouraged, a home-based internet business can be run easily well into the retirement years. The longer you have an active income, the less you need in your retirement account.
So is there cause for uncertainty about retiring comfortably in the same lifestyle that you were used to while working? Yes there is! Is there something you can do to put some certainty back into your golden years? Again, yes there is! An internet home business or internet network marketing business will get you on the right retirement track.
