Do you realize that your kids are surrounded by the mathematical world? Long before your kids have to deal with symbols, numbers and formulas, they have found math in all the things they see and touch.

For example, they learn about space by crawling to reach something under the table or chair. Or, they learn about shapes while touching a ball they roll.

The more they explore some stuffs, especially with the right stimulations by you, their parents, the better they understand and apply the basic concepts of maths such as classification, comparison and counting.

When they are merely babies (0 – 1 year old) they love to test or observe anything they find around them. That is why, it is better for you to equip them with educational toys right from the start, toys that suit their age.

When they get to the age of two, they start classifying some objects. They can sort out stuff based on the colors, shapes or functions. Or, if they get to speak at this age, they would be aware of ‘small’ and ‘big’ concept and furthermore they can get to the ‘smaller’ and ‘bigger’ concept. They now understand about comparison.

At the age of three to four, they develop to the stage of calculating and weighing. They can now arrange things from smaller in size or numbers to bigger in size or numbers.

When they are five, they understand the numbering concept, not just say numbers.

However, for kids who have greater interest and skill in mathematics, they develop the above ability a lot sooner. For example, they might understand the concept of numbering at the age of three.

Whether or not your kids are into math, you’d better give them the right stimulation to help them develop their cognitive improvement. If you don’t know how to do it, get an expert to help you. Don’t let your kids miss the chance to be the next Einstein just because you are not aware enough of their brainpower.
