Are There Any Old Hubsters Behind The Curtain in The Land of Hub?

Who or What is Behind the Curtain at Hubster Land

Imagine my surprise when I learned who was behind the curtain pulling the strings in the Land of Hub.

As A Neophyte I Find Myself Surrounded by Experienced Hubsters!

Being new to Hubsterism raises many questions, but I don't know what the reaction of long term hubsters may be to them.

Blowing in the wind!

It feels sometimes as if publishing Hubs is like flinging manuscript into the wind.
It feels sometimes as if publishing Hubs is like flinging manuscript into the wind.

Who are the Wizards at the Land of Hub?

As a recently converted Hubster (just two months) I consider myself a neophyte in the Hierarchy of Hubsters. It is because I am a neophyte that the previous stated question and other questions have popped into my mind   since I have converted to Hubsterism.

Another question that beckons my attention is how does one reach Hub nirvana?

Must one achieve a Hubster rating of 100 before s/he reaches nirvana?

What happens when one reaches Hubster nirvana?

Do one’s words become more uplifting, more powerful, does the almighty Hubster him/her self come down from the ether and take the newly anointed Hub Centurion by the hand?

I must confess I sometimes ask, “Why Hub? Why don’t I just write my thoughts on pieces of paper and scatter them to the wind.”

Then my prudent side weighs in and I think, “Throwing sheets of paper into the wind is littering. Littering is against the law in most places. “

On some days I must confess I do feel Hubbing is the virtual equivalent of scattering sheets of paper that contain my thoughts to the wind, except instead of littering the ecosystem, Hubs litter a server or servers with scraps of thoughts.”

“Could even thinking some hubs litter a server’s ecosystem be sacrilege? “ I ask. True there are some Hub thoughts that are not worthy of the great and omnipotent Hubster.

Bubbles and Bad Hubs

Bubbles have no more chance of elevating a man to the moon than a bad Hub has of taking its author to Hub Nirvana.
Bubbles have no more chance of elevating a man to the moon than a bad Hub has of taking its author to Hub Nirvana.

I learned where hub caps come from!

If as claimed the Land of Hub is a publishing ecosystem, than that must be where Hub caps come from.

The Yellow Brick Road to Hubberville

The muses will direct the pilgrim to the yellow brick road that leads to the gateway of the Land of Hub

What a well scrubbed lot!

I also found the management team of both Hubland and its parent company polite and well behaved.

Pilgrim discovers truth!

He now understands how Dorothy must have felt when she discovered the wizard was a mortal man.

Do you believe

People with gray hair bring diversity to the community of The Land of Hub?
People with gray hair bring diversity to the community of The Land of Hub?

Or Conversely

They create terminal boredom and have nothing to contribue.
They create terminal boredom and have nothing to contribue.

Every Faith Has Its Misquided Cohorts.

Sadly, Hubsterism seems to be no exception. I have personally seen and read some Hubs that have no more chance of raising the wannabe Hubster to 100 than a soap bubble has of taking a person to the moon. But should one let a few bad Hubsters spoil the philosophical foundations of Hubsterism?

I think most will agree a few rotten Hubsters should not spoil the Hubster Barrel.

In an effort to find the answer to my burning questions about Hubsterism I took a virtual trip to Silicon Valley, the homeland of all things technical. There I queried many muses in an attempt to find the true path known as the Yellow Brick Road to Hubsterville.

A seemingly all knowing Muse named Google offered a selection of answers including an address and a link to what must be The Land of Hub, which is according to the website is, "the leading online publishg ecosystem."

Do Hubcaps live in the Hubster Ecosystem?

How truly amazing I thought. Here i had believed hub meant something else. My mind was suddenly filled with images of what kind of creature inhabit the Hub Ecosystem. I saw images of hub bacteria, hub plankton, hub birds and bees, and of hub caps merrily rolling over hill and dale..

I went to the home of HubPages and learned it has a parent company called YieldBuild. "Amazing, there is a Land of Hub and more!" I cried out in jubilation.

The discovery of The Land of Hub led to another question. "Are there  wizards and witches in The Land of Hub?"

Yes, there were and there were pictures of them. They were a right bright looking lot, fresh scrubbed faces, not a gray hair in the bunch and all under 50 it seems.

Then a dreadful thought began to make its way from the most inner crevices of my brain. That thought was so fearsome I was afraid to learn the answer. "Does one need to be under 50 to be a wizard or wizardess in the inter sanctum of The Land of Hub?

I followed the yellow brick link to YieldBuild. Surely there must be wizards and withcesses over the age of 50 in the Inter sanctum of Inter sanctums of The Land of Hub. Alas, there were pictures there also, and to my dismay i saw what appeared they all appeared to be under 50.

Suddely, I felt as Dorthy in the movie, "The Wizard of Oz" must have felt when her dog Toto pulled the curtain open and reveled that the might wizard was a mere mortal.

The truth hurts. I had discovered the great Irony of The Land of Hub.

The Irony? Many, perhaps most of those who write Hubs are older than members of the communities that frequent  many other web sites. By the looks of their photos a lot of the hub writers are downright crotchety and over 50. Yet the wizards behind the Hub Curtain who are pulling the strings is a group of people who are under 50.

I let this earth shaking discovery permeate my soul for a moment. As was Dorthy disappointed to find the Wizard of Oz was a mere mortal; I was disappointed to find The Land of Hub is just another typical American enterprise. It attempts to project an image of community, ecosytemtivity and diversity. It allows Hub Caps but seems to excludes GRAY Caps  from its enterprise.

Would the Land of Hub be better than it is now if it one or two members of its staff  were aged 50 or grater. To put it bluntly would the True Hub Revelations that permeate the Internet be better if The Land of Hub was in glorious equal employment opportunity bandwidth?

Most likely not I decided. After all it is recognized by those who runs online corporations that anyone over 50 is brain dead and is devoid of new ideas. These same techno-execs also know that when it come to technology most over 50 think key stroking skills have something to do with porno.

But unlike our national leader I cannot speak for what all the people want. So I shall ask you.

Would the Land of Hub be a better community if it had a member or two on its staff whose were over 50 years of age?

  • Yes, people with gray hair or balding heads are not handicapped by that condition and may actually help the diversity of the hub community.
  • No. It is well known both gray hair and balding create a condition known as terminal boredom, and people over 50 have nothing to contribute.

Sorry Keith, I had something relevant, possibly even salient to add to your observations, but I had to take a break as my daily ration of prunes were taking effect, and now I've forgotten just what it was.

Cheers,

er?

Me!!

I still have a few months left to enjoy being under-50, but then of course, it will be down-hill all the way. The extreme youth of the HubPages head hubbers does trouble me slightly. Perhaps they could get a few token oldies just to balance things out a little? Alternatively they could all stay in post until they are themselves old, by which time, the rest of us will be beyond caring either way!

perhaps creativity produces a sigmoid curve if plotted against age. That could be the reason why hubsters behind the curtains are under 50. Anyways, great hub.

You could be right. However my experience is that no matter what age I was, it seemed the majority of my peers were about as creative as dust.

Actually, regardless of whether you are right or not, using that logic for any other "minority group" regardless of gender, race, religion or sexual preference would be considered a discriminatory statement.
