Video games are in just about every household now. I remember growing up with the original Nintendo. Even though I am a woman, I absolutely love to play them. I also enjoy playing with my husband. But the problem lies in the fact that they can be addicting.

My husband spent this past weekend playing Halo 3 from the point he woke up till he went to bed. I obviously got upset because he barely helped with our two kids and weekends are time to clean the house. We did get in an argument but he finally agree with me that it was way too much. I told him like I was the other woman to the xbox. He didn't play all to much the next day which was nice since he spent more time with us.

However, I never realized how much of a problem this is everywhere. My mom is always yelling at my brother because he'd rather play video games than do his homework (I could understand wanting to do that lol). What I didn't realize is how much it is affecting people's personal life. While playing last night, a man that was on my team on Halo 3 started talking about his wife (he was asking questions to me cause I am a female lol). It seems that she filed for divorce and he couldn't understand why. He said that all she complained about was him playing video games and that she made a comment about her being the other woman to his games. I asked him how often he played and he explained that he played from the point he got home till he fell asleep. It was rare that he wasn't playing. I of course explained to him about my situation with my husband. I told him that he wasn't building up his marriage if he spent all his time on the games. Where is the love?

It comes down to this, what you put your time and energy into will thrive. Things or persons that you don't, will wilt. So I do believe that it isn't always another woman that we need to worry about. It's the video games and parents are starting them off young. I played with an 8 year old yesterday and he was talking like an adult, cussing and calling names. Where is the parenting? I wasn't really able to play fighting games till I was in my older teen years.

If this is happening in your marriage, I suggest you talk to your spouse. If that doesn't work, get help for an addiction because it is an addiction if all they do is spend time on the game.
