Are we but dust
41Are we but dust
We believe ourselves to be important for we hold the spark of divine light in our breast yet how easy we are exterminated.
We fight great wars of religion and for our freedoms we give up that which we hold so dear the light of divine reason.
The question arises are we as important as we think or are we but dust the same dust from which great stars are made?
Do our lives mean any thing or are we but a momentary flicker of intelligence before the eternal dark night of space and time.
uncountable generations of our kind have past this way but only one has paused long enough to stay are we but the dust of enternity moving in time and space?
I personally believe that is far better to live a righteous and holy life and to die believing in the saving grace of Jesus and to discover that there is no hereafter then take the risk of eternal damnation

I choose the opposite. Because there are countless belief systems that tell us that we will meet with doom if we don't believe. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Let me think, if I came up with a belief system and really wanted to motivate people to be devout, what better way than to hold the threat of eternal hellfire over their heads? That, compared with the promise of eternal bliss in the sky as a reward, perfect motivation.
