Are we getting ready to make an "african mistake"?

By thinking out loud

New african policy?

What does president Obama have in mind for Africa?  He seemed to be saying the US will be getting actively engaged in their problems.  This is the last place we need to be getting entrenched in.  Other than massive sums of money, what does he think there is to accomplish there for us?  Or is this all part of the slavery obsession he and his wife seem to have?  Surprisingly when he addressed the issue in Africa he didn't remind them that they were selling their own people.  That is a huge piece of the puzzle, but too often omitted.  The fact that the jail they visited was on african soil escaped them.  As it does most slavery enmeshed arguments. So, where does mr obvama think he's taking us to make ammends for this old atrocity?  What does he feel we owe this continent, that follows one corrupt dictator after another and wonders why it makes no progress?.  Don't we already give enough?  Havent we made despots wealthy for years and years?  Don't we take in enough african immigrants each year?  What does he want us to do?  Send our military in for every dictator that is desperate to kill it's own citizens?  Hadn't the UN learned it's lessons for trying to get involved in these petty struggles?   Leave Africa alone, they also hold nothing of promise for us.  They will continue to be what  they are, despite an  unimaginable wealth of natural resources, they cannot feed their own populations.  Greed, corruption, tribal hatreds, this is none of our business.  I hope when the president gets his two feet back on American soil, he treats that trip just like he did his campaign promises.  All talk and no substance.
