If you are reading these lines, chances are you must be using Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 7. If so, you are UNDER GREAT DANGER... keep reading.

On 16 December, 2008, a " "zero-day" vulnerability has been identified in Microsoft Internet Explorer 7. Please take a look at the following link(s) which highlight whats going on :

It seems pretty scary as most of us use Internet Explorer for browsing the Internet, which includes but not limited to :

  • On-line shopping (using credit cards etc.)
  • Email
  • Chat
  • Social Networking

Furthermore, at the time of this writing "no patch or fix" is available, which makes the situation worst.

At this time of the year, most of the users go for "online shopping". Under this situation, one may become the victim of hacking very easily.

Lets hope Microsoft will come with a remedy real soon. Till then lets hope for the best :)

Thank you for the information. I hadnt heard about the issues with IE 7.0 as I do not watch the news (Im always watching Nick Jr.). If you don't mind me asking, if I use AOL for my Internet, how do I figure out if I am using 7.0?

Hi Ardie,

Thanks for the comments.

Its really a critical situation. Just check the links in my HUB. Good news is that Microsoft is aware of the situation and working on the issue.

If you use AOL as you internet service provider and use their very own browser, you are good to go. I mean if you don't use Internet Explorer (which installs with MS Windows) you don't have to worry about it, as the exploit is specifically found in IE 7.0.

Stay safe on the internet.

Ok, thanks. I only use the browser from AOL, but my work uses IE 7, so I'll have to check the links, read more, and maybe tell them.
