This is an advise to my dear friends who find it damn easy to copy material from a site and paste it to their own to claim it their own work. Anyone can do it easily if one knows the a, b, c, d of the computer. Beware! friend if you are planning to earn money using either google, chitika or any of the advertiser's ads using your own publisher Id or site's Id. You are risking your publisher's account and you may loose it soon.
All the advertisers allow viewers to make comments for both content of the site and relevance of the ads being displayed. One can report the advertiser simply by clicking on advertisers name about the duplicate content and if he provides the url of original article, advertiser may easily get the information about date of publication of original and duplicate article. Based on the information, advertiser may block the ads to the site displaying duplicate content or disable the publisher account.
Another risk involved in using duplicate content is to risk your account opened on a site to display content as a blog or hub. Each site has a link to DMCA information. It's very simple to report the matter to the site using DMCA information. In most cases, site has to disable the account of its members for violating site's policy of not displaying duplicate content. Blogger (Blog.spot) has a link on top of the blog called "Report the abuse" in right hand side of the "share it". By clicking this one can report to the google about the copied content. Google will remove the content from the blogger beside disabling the publisher account. Similar action is taken by the other advertiser.
Why do people resort to copyright violation?
There are several advantages of doing it but few disadvantages also. It takes several days to prepare an article while it takes only few seconds to just copy and paste the material from already published site.
How such people are encouraged to do such things?
1. They wish to become rich overnight. If it takes a year or so in popularizing your site, it may take few hours to make your site famous with copied content.
2. This act goes unrecognized for few days or few weeks and they start earning handsome money within few days. Temptation for earning more money makes them more engaged in such activities.
3. They have to invest lot of money to hire talented writers or to spend lot of time to compile or prepare information. It becomes readily available to them in form of copied material.
4. When they taste the blood, they get involved in illegal activities. For an example, if they are challenged by an author for copying their material, they resort to activities that can harm the victim. Hubpages.com is a good site and has talented authors. Articles published at hubpages.com are often stolen and pasted on other site even without changing the article.
5. Such thieves have succeeded in getting disabled the publisher account of several good established hubbers either by generating repeated clicks or by pasting their publisher's Id on adult webpages or sites. They create one or two webpage, place few adult videos and report violation of policies by themselves.
Actually, I started this article to inform such copyright violators that they are themselve risking their publisher account irrespective of their association (google adsense or any other ads). If they are showing any ads on their site, it is my humble request to them that think twice before doing it. There are several provisions which can help the victims to make you victim without your knowledge.
My dear copyright violators, this is very unfortunate or fortunate that hubpage site has begun to inform hubbers immediately about their material being copied elsewhere and provide help to hubbers to take action against persons violating the copyright rules.
What the hubbers can do or have to do when they come to know that their material has been pasted as such on other sites?
1. They can inform you that you have copied their material and pasted it on your site. They can either request you to remove it or can threaten to report the matter to the advertiser.
2. Hubbers have become more smarter than earlier now, they won't inform you but inform your advertiser. In this case google will disable your account and you will lose all your easy money (Hubbers will click on the ads displayed on your site in a way similar to shown below in photograph module without your knowledge).
3. Hubbers can file DMCA information and you have all the risk of your account being disabled not only from hosting site but also from advertiser.
Why do the hubbers have to react if their material is copied elsewhere?
Hubbers are left with no other option as hubpages.com starts showing copyright violation icon the hub that has been copied and pasted on other sites anywhere in the world.
If hubbers take no against such violations, their hub and hubber scores will get penalized by the site and will start rolling down in future. Hubbers are compelled to act under such situations.
Who are the people violating copyright laws?
It gives me deep pain to raise finger toward anyone but this is truth also. In 99% of cases, Indians are involved and I rarely found any other person engaged doing such things. I'm an Indian and I know it how difficult it is to blame. However, people doing such acts don't have any religion or nationality, they have greed to earn money by any means. I still believe that majority of people are innocent and unaware that copied material can be detected in fraction of seconds by just keying few phrases in any search engine. Why I am saying this has reasons behind. Several Indians joined hubpages and pasted the copied material from hubpages to their own hubs. It can not be expected from an experienced internet user. I wish to inform such people that it's easiest thing in the world to detect copied material on the net and please do not indulge in such activities.
How to report the copyright violation?
If no action is taken by the advertiser, the simplest thing to do is mail a copy of the DMCA notice to the site where this blog is hosted. In most cases, site removes duplicate content within few hour after receiving your notice. Filing of DMCA is very simple. Only care to be taken is to follow the format shown in photo capsule. There are four component in the DMCA notice:
1. url of the duplicate content
2. url of the original content
3. Date of publication of both original as well as duplicate content
4. Two statements are mandatory to make as shown in the DMCA format. After completing all this, please sign it. After signing, scan the document and send mail to the site. In google's case you have to fax it to the given fax no. which is available on Google's DMCA details.

An informative article, premsingh!Yes,it is rather sad and infuriating that these "thieves" can hijack all your hard work with their cut-and-paste heist : a cut here and a paste there and.....voila,before you know, they claim it as "all my own work"!! Unfortunately,it appears, that more often than not, they seem to get away with their crime. These plagiarists should be dealt with most severly. Like jayb23, I too hope that other hubbers will take action to try and eliminate this unacceptable practice.
Thank you, premsigh, for all your insightful articles.
Take care
Thanks Mienoo, hubbers should not contact these people. They can directly click the advertiser's link on their site and inform the advertiser that content has been copied from hubpages by giving the url of hub. However, this tactic is applicable to sites which are participating as publisher.
Good one.. Premsingh..
Hello Premingh, Thank You for your hub and sharing this information. I am sorry this has happened to you? I know I would not care for it one bit for anyone. It is rude and self seeking. The truth will be revealed it always it. The Light always puts out the Dark.dark. God Bless You. Keep sharing and caring. I will return to read more hubs. Visit my hubs when you have a minute. Cheerioo..
Thanks Ten Blogger, Patti
This has hit very close to home for me. A friend of mine had her words taken from a private board, her personal words and life experiences and used by someone else to heighten their own life. I use to be amazed at the lengths that people would go but no more.
Thanks for sharing this.
premsingh, people copy your hubs because you offer so much valuable information. your hubs are so clear and consice. but it certainly stinks to have someone steal your work.
very informative. i guess it is true what they say, you learn something new everyday.
I am sorry, maybe I missed something here. I have always been under the impression that what you write is already copywrited as your own. This may be a silly point to make, but if I found someone reproducing what I wrote either in here or stole it from one of my sites, I would actually find out who did it and take action against them. There are so many thieves on the net who just want to make money any way they are able and I found a site the other day which actually shows people how to "make a website their own" even if they do not own it nor the resale rights to use it. Resale rights are common these days, but if you do not have the resell right to the information and you are caught using it without permission, to me, this would constitute an internet war ....... unfortunately in this day and age, it is a sad fact, some people would rather steal from someone else instead of taking the time or the effort to do their own work or come up with their own idea--gee, I wonder how many times they cheated in school???
It is far too easy with technology the way it is to find out who is doing what. I would not just sit back and let someone else take credit for my work. It is just not who nor what I am. It is really easy to find isps, email addresses, time frames for things written. Look at all the lawsuits over music rights. It is the same with our written word.
Thanks Peggy's hubpage, Dolores monet, deeli82 and wealthmadewealthy
I'm surprised to find that most of them (people duplicating original content) using google ads on such content and not a bit afraid of their publisher's account being disabled. I guess these people are not aware that they are violating the adsense policy for using duplicate content on their sites and someone someday will file a DMCA notice and such people will loose their account.
Wealthmadehealthy - when just ONE person is stealing your content - it's easy to hunt them down and beat them with a stick.
When 1000 people are stealing your content - through your RSS feed- it's another story.
Oh, and when someone is tech savvy - finding the isp, email addresses etc is difficult. Look up "spoofing" as in "email spoofing" to learn how your tracks CAN be hidden online.
Premsingh - are you saying that when my hubspot content is stolen, it's up to ME to hunt down the violators?
Some interesting information - thank you for sharing.
It's very sad that people feel the need to steal the work of others.
virtualimpax, it's only you who have to run after the violators if the steal your content. HP may just alert you and inform who is the culprit.
Yes its sad that people not only feel but steal also. Most unfortunate thing is that they have to pay the price and then try to take revenge as if they are not guilty.
premsingh, thanks for the information
Premsingh , thanks for the information. The whole purpose of writing is defeated ,if people are into plagiarizing.
I know premsingh i takes lot of effort to write one article. Newbie usually copy article because they don't know about online stuffs...most of the times..
nice article..
Very interesting. You said this happened to you and I am very sorry. It is sad when people are dishonest and take credit for other people's hard work. But don't let it discourage you, keep on writing anyway and you will be justly rewarded.
Im glad i dont know any sites that i can copy from.
IM just that good.
Nightlymistress @_@
Thanks jayb23http://www.nokiamobilephones.org/
Good hub! I have my own stories that have not been published and hate the idea of some one 'copy/pasting' my hard work. Thanks so much. :)
Thanks Loua, ghost, 564626, lisag, nightlymistress, goodfangji and raggits for supporting me in the crusade against copyright violation.
This is a very good hub - I definitely share your frustrations on this one. It is plagiarism and it is stealing others' work. But it's good to see that Hubpages isn't as bad for it as some of the other content website I've seen.
Thanks deepestwisdom
Indians are more used to copywrite than copyright ! We do not need to go a lot further to know that... just see hubpages with pictures and you will find it is just simple copyright violation. Most of the pics are stolen and they even have their watermark on them...
The Indian laws are strong, but the enforcers are weak. Your article will help those dejected and hopeless people who need go after the Indian law, but can directly report to advertisers......

Thanks for this hub premsingh and its really sad Indians are involved in the most. Hopefully hubbers out here will be able to take action whenever such a thing happens. Keep up the good work.
