Are you afraid of flying, and if yes, why and what about ? Do you think of collision, crash, airplane explsion,...
54Personally, I dread flying. It terrifies me. Of course, after 9/11, there's more to worry than just a technical snag. I find traveling by other means much more safer.
My fear of flying is mostly due to my fear of heights, but I must admit that it has got accentuated by the fear of my plane blowing up or being driven into a building like the WTC. I dread that immensely. Of course, the other ways you could end up dead are not attractive either.
Getting blown to pieces in the skies, falling alive from the sky into the ocean, surviving a plane crash in the ocean (I don't know to swim), getting roasted in a burning plane, getting suffocated in a cabin filled with smoke, getting sucked out of a plane - well none of the options are very palatable - in fact purely terrifying.
I'd rather stay on the ground. Having the ground beneath my feet gives me much greater security then being up there on a plane. I know these days you could get blown up in a bus or a train even, but I'd still prefer the safety of the ground - rather than the isolation of the skies above.

Yeah, know the statistics, but nothing can make me feel better about flying :) Its more paranoia I guess.

Thank you Shil for answering my request. I'm sure you know about statistics but it does not help you because your fear is kind of bad instinct.
