1. "Script not found" error
Often small problems becomes great irritants though these don't pose much difficulty to you and are not really serious in nature. Such types of problems are often faced by many users. For an example, if you click on "Open" tab of a drive of your computer, it says "script not found". Simple solution to this problem is to click on the "explore" button and it will display the contents of that particular drive. However, if you have habit to double click an icon to open a drive, you will get tense and try to find out remedy for this problem.
Why does it happen?
This generally happens after removal of a virus from your computer. Virus is successfully removed from the drive but this problem remains there until you find a solution to this. I have noticed this problem after removing a virus with free version of "Avast antivirus". This problem may occur with different drives of your hard disk or with "Removable disk".
Stepwise solution:
1. Whenever you face this problem, run the virus check and remove the virus with the help of antivirus program.
2. When you are sure that drive is free of virus, copy the content to another drive.
3.After you have copied all the files to another drive, just go for formatting of the drive. You can do it by right clicking the drive icon and selecting "format" option.
4. Select the comlete format option.
5. Copy the tranferred content (files) back to the formatted drive.
6. Now click the "Open" button and it will display the files on the drive.
2. Hardware or driver problem
In many instances, your computer may not detect your drive. There could be several reasons forit:
1. Your hard disk is not properly connected: Check the cable /card connecting hard disk to the mother board. Remove the card and re-insert it again. Check the power cable supplying current from SMPS to the hard disk.
2. Some viruses may not allow your system to detect the hard disk. Run the antivirus program and clean the viruses.
3. Try to run the scandisk and fix the errors if it prompts you to do so.
4. In some cases you have to format the drive but it may result in loss of data if you could not back up your data stored on the disk.
5. If your computer fails to detect thumb drive, ensure that drivers for USB are properly installed. It can be checked by clicking on "Control panel", then selecting "system: and then "device driver".
Note: Always allow scandisk to scan your disk if computer was shut down improperly.
