Are There Real Haunted Houses in Alabama?
64How ghost hunters really work
Paranormal group seeks answers to area mysteries of real haunted houses and things that go bump in the night.
The Oxford Paranormal Society (OPS) was founded in 2006 by three Wal-Mart employees who enjoyed the idea of investigating paranormal activity.
The group does eBay fundraisers and t-shirt sales to support their research and buy the high tech tools they need for ghost hunting, like digital audio recorders for sound, five infrared stationary cameras and handheld camcorders with night shot features aided by infrared lights.
The group has investigated 30 local areas with reports of unusual happenings. These include abandoned buildings, cemeteries, and potential real haunted houses. The group plans to soon visit the Waverly Hill Sanitarium in Louisville, KY later this year. The sanitarium is thought to be one of the top 10 most haunted places in the United States.
Using their equipment OPS hopes they can shed some light however on the subject.
Real Haunted Houses Resource
As someone with a long-time interest in real haunted houses, I'm always on the look for interesting books or other information on how to scientifically (or at least halfway scientific!) look for ghosts. One of the best sources I found was an ebook that details everything I was interested in, in terms of real haunted houses or ghost hunting.
I've seen several hard copy books at Barnes and Noble, but the ebook got into the stuff I wanted to know how to do, like take ghost photos and use EVPs.

My husband and I got into ghost hunting about 3 or 4 years ago.We have caught my orbs and a few images of hands and things such as that.I am looking for more places to go hunting but not many people are into out where we live and all the places we are told about are places that we can't go(private property and such)
I think there are more 'things' around us than we realize. There have been too many things happen that have no explanation. I love your article. I am very interested in ghosts and hauntings. Good job.

Wow, Im only 17, I love Ghost Hunters. Thats very interesting. When I was younger in my grandma's house, we would see things all the time, she would tell us there were no such things as ghost && that wwe saw our shadow, now she admits she knows what we saw && so on, its just she didnt want us to freak out if she told us, what we saw was a non living thing. Since bout a year or two ago, I myself, have been gettin into some ghost hunting, sometime next week me && my friends will be goin to a haunted bridge && house, the house is empty && has been for awhile, && is claimed to be haunted so we're gonna check that out, the bridge is claimed to be haunted so we're gonna go check that out as well. I love ghost topics, videos, Im very much interested in it, even if it add hunting for the ghosts. Im a brave young girl. Thats for sure.
I do believe that it is possible for a place to be haunted, but most of the time there is a very natural explanation for most things people describe as haunted activity. This is the reason we take the approach that we do on investigating cases. Thanks for the write up Robin.

i think it is really haunted and so does my bro so we think the same so yah its haunted alright!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course there are ghost...me and my dad share the ability to see and hear ghost, and every house we have lived in has been haunted so i believe
The possibilty there are "ghosts" or "haunted houses" is very, very interesting to me/ I have watched every "GHOSTHUNTERS", "PARANORMAL STATE", "PHYSIC KIDS", ect that have ever been aired. One of the most compelling videos is one that was taken by two guys who were "locked in " a old "hotel" in NEVADA and both had camcorders. If anyone has seen it a brick seemingly "flys across the room" and they both loose it and run from the hotel. It is probally the most "realistic" scene that claims to be "paranormal" . My family thinks I am nuts, but I think it is possible these things happen. WHERE IS THE "MOST HAUNTED" place in ALABAMA? I would love to go to take a look for myself!!
WoW! This is VerY interesting. :D!!
i was 2 years old me and my mom was in this hous we were living in and she said the house started rumbling like a tractor was pushing it down or at least trying to so she picked me up and ran out side and in the yard and it was dead quiet she said she bent over to put me down and under the house was a baby tomb stone and a little box the wind picked up but the little box didnt move and there was a big spot of blood in the middle of the living room floor on the rug doors opend at night and closed and unlocked and locked back foot steps down the hall and a baby crying at 12 00am sharp..every house we move into is haunted.. me and friends go around to local haunted houses and see what we can find and we are never disapointed......so believe......

i dont think ghosts are real.
By now word has gotten around that the Haunted Gurney Factory in Prattville, AL suffer a fire and has since been cleared from the sight. But did you know that when the building burnt the only thing left standing was the elevator shaft. As the story goes, a little boy fell down that shaft and died and his mother still looks for him. Was that just coincidence??
ive been interested for many years i ghosts i know most people accept what they see on tv as the real deal what they don't releize most of these shows are scripted and are edited to make it look good for the audience i found most hauntings to be explainable. Orbs are dust particles caught in an angle that is reflecting light with the advent of cell phones there is so much rf out there your hard pressed not to get a reading on a emf meter .i am not saying i don't beleive in ghosts just saying use caution and that not evrything that goe's bump in the night is of paranormal origen

I think the possibility of real haunted houses is absolutely fascinating! My roommate introduced me to urban exploration and everytime we go into an old, dark building the question "is it haunted" lingers in the air. She says she doesn't beleive in ghosts, but would be terrified if she saw one, but I do beleive. She gets scared when our dog barks at something we can't see since Savannah is so haunted! We have visited buildings in GA and SC, but not yet in Alabama. I'd like to keep see more from you about hauntings!
